Now that the sinkhole's been filled in and smoothed over, there's some cement-work to be done pretty much right on top of it. Not that Xander looks like he's getting Sunnydale flashbacks about that; the thoughtful frown is entirely unrelated. Really.

"The truck did the big parts of it," he says, "But there's paths for a sidewalk laid out that you guys can pour." He points to a small cement mixer, in fact the one that was used to make sure those pesky stones remain in place beneath their feet.

And then there's a safety lecture. You knew there would be.

Bel totally did not secretly find a place in the sidewalk to write "Cole + Phoebe" in a heart in the cement.

Okay, maybe he did. He thought about Anders, and decided he wanted a more manly way to leave a mark at the school for him.

The dinosaur-smashy table is gone; in its place is one with chips and gatorade. Hey, there's a picnic today; might as well save room for the good stuff.

Phoebe figured that Cole wouldn't frown at her for leaving the rooms when she was bringing him food stuffs.

Even with his eyes closed Cole sensed Phoebe approaching. He listened to her footfalls and turned his head and opened his eyes, watching her walk. "How are you feeling, sweetheart?" he said.

She smiled at him. "I'm alright... and I figured after lunch I'd go have James check me over so you can feel better."

"Good," Cole said, nodding. "If he yells at me for not bringing you to the clinic it's all your fault." He made a face at her.

She stroked his cheek gently. "No, he won't yell at you. He knows that I don't like Dr. Troy for far too many reasons."

Anders not at all following his player's example had installed Zuma Deluxe on his laptop, and after his Spying class he'd gotten a little too caught up in playing, so he showed up a little later.

He was looking sheepish, but bearing dessert. Namely, strawberry shortcake parfaits.

"I, uh." He laughed sheepishly. "Got sucked into playing this computer game after my workshop and it was right about lunchtime when I finally stopped. Mwahahaha totally."

Bel gave him a pitiful look. "I was so hungry!" he said. He may have tried to hide any leftover food that Phoebe had brought him.

Okay, so the thoughtful frown is Sunnydale-related, but the sinkhole's a side-issue. Most of it comes from a small package Xander brought along, addressed to him from a certain fellow Sunny-D refugee, postmarked Sao Paulo, Brazil.

When he's not helping to smooth cement, he's probably over by the table where his laptop's set up, studying the letter that came with it.

And sometime during the day a certain slayer pops by to check up on her watcher. "Hey Harris. I see you're dino-bite free?"

Mel might be sporting a few faint scars from her little tussle over the weekend.

"Had a little romp with one," Mel said trying not to look smug. "Hey if I can't battle the undead or demons on a weekly basis a girl has to find her fun somehow."

"Well, there's always-- yeah, nevermind." They'd had that conversation already, the one about what else Slayer-and-Scooby types usually ended up doing with the undead or demons. "Knitting, maybe? Keep up the manual dexterity."
