Pie for beginners - Monday July 9th - 2nd Period

The class was handwavily given notes to meet in the Danger Shop for class. There they would find that it was set up a lot like the old home economics class, with long table desks in the middle and cooking area’s on the side.

Yondaime stood at the front of the class next to a television and smiled nervously to everyone once they were seated. “Good Morning! And Welcome to… uh… pie class! I'm your teacher Yondaime. Obviously this is a class about pie and how to make it! We’re going to be going over pie crusts, fillings and at the end of the term we’re going to have a contest between all of you for your own original pie recipe.”

Did it seem like he didn’t know what he was doing? “But first! Let’s start off with introductions, and then we’ll watch a film about pie crusts which will get us ready for next week’s class.”

[Wait for the OCD plz. OCD is up!]

Un ninja-ly, huh? Yet, would he allowed Setsuna to use that excuse to get out of this?

"Um, hello," she bowed her head to the class a little. "My name is Setsuna Sakurazaki; I am sixteen years old. I don't really have a favourite kind of pie, although I suppose apple is very nice. And something interesting, umm..."

Well, the wings thing was getting old. She tried to think quick. Setsuna held out her right arm a bit, pointing to the pink half-circle of a scar there. "And just two weeks ago, this part of my arm was severed so that, you see this line here? It was all separated, just sort of hanging there from a sword wound."

She facepalmed. Oh, yeah, everyone wanted to hear all about that, right before eating pie, surely. At least she didn't mention how much it bled and how you could actually touch all the muscle inside, and....

Setsuna quickly just sat the heck down, and then clunked her forehead down on the table.

Bart waved at the class as he was not a ninja at all and had no excuse to get out of the exercise. Dang it.

"Hi, I'm Bart Allen. I'm um..." He had to pause and think about that for e second. "...fifteen? and my favorite pie, I don't know. I've never had pie before. And something special about me is that I've been all the levels of BOOM in an hour."

"My name's Carmela Rodriguez, I'm seventeen, and um... my favourite kind of pie is lemon meringue. As for something interesting? I can talk to electronics, and... most of the time they do what I ask."

"I'm Liz Sherman," Liz said, "I'm 15 and I don't actually have a favourite type of pie," since the only really interesting thing about her was that she could create fire, she decided that she would just stick with that as being something interesting about her, "I create fire," she produced some flames in her right hand and then after a few seconds the flames were gone.

Looking less than enthusiastic about introducing himself, he did it nonetheless. "I'm Raphael. Uhm, I guess Pizza pie is my favorite." He was pretty sure you could count pizza.

"As for something interesting... If you couldn't already tell, I'm a mutated turtle, and a ninja. I'm guessin' that's interesting to some people." By now, he was pretty sure even blind people knew these things about him, but everything else would have taken too long to explain. Really, short and sweet was all you needed, right?

"I'm Pam," she said with a little wave. "I'm sixteen, I like apple pie, and I...um, am from Pennsylvania."

Maybe she was in a room full of people who would think that was really interesting.

"I'm Seely Booth, and my favourite kind of pie is fresh hot apple with vanilla ice cream. The good kind, not soft serve." Not that he needed to be that specific, really. "But, really, I just like all kinds of pie."

"I'm Katara," she said with a grin. "I'm sixteen, and I just started working at the clinic. So when people get their arms almost cut off-" she glanced at Setsuna. "The should come see me."

"Hello everyone! I'm Evie Carnahan, I'm sixteen, my favorite pie is peach pie, with lots of cinnamon, and, ohh." Evie had to stop and think of something. "I'm learning to read hieroglyphics!"

Anemone may have been bouncing a lot little. A class on tasty treats? Jurgens was forgiven for any and all transgressions for a week. She dipped a quick curtsy and beamed at the class.

"Hello! My name is Anemone, and I am sixteen years old. I have not yet had pie, but since I love all tasty things, I am sure I will like it."

Something interesting? Uh...Anemone bit the inside of her cheek. She didn't exactly want to tell people what she was. Oh! "I am new, and I am one of the way-way-future people. So if I look confused, I probably am."

"I'm Door, and I'm sixteen." Somehow it seems slightly wrong to have something so limiting as a favourite pie, but... "My favourite pie is blackberry. Or mince. Or Shepherd's. Or apple."

She stops herself before going further into the list, finishing with, "In conclusion, I have problems choosing a favourite pie. Also, every one I've ever tried to make myself, I've burned beyond recognition."

Will gave a nervous wave.

"Uh, hey. I'm Will Vandom, and I'm 16 years old. Apple pie is pretty good, and mixed berries too. As for something interesting ... I collect frog plushies, and I met a talking frog who's a fellow student last week."

Anne was beginning to wonder what sort of experience these classes were supposed to prepare her for; surely no one had told the school about the anodyne liniment layer cake?

"My name," she began, rising from her seat with a slight tremble in her voice and a flush in her pale cheeks, "is Anne Shirley -- Anne spelt with an E because apparently I always have to have a character who has a hangup about their name spelling. I'm fifteen years old and from Avonlea on Prince Edward Island in Canada, although I was born in Bolingbroke, Nova Scotia. And there, that's as interesting a fact as I can tell you about myself, since all the truly interesting things are the ones I'd have to make up. As for pie . . . I don't know that I particularly have a favourite kind -- any pie that Marilla makes is splendid."

She was becoming more and more convinced, however, that this did have something to do with the liniment cake after all, and sat back down with a little sigh.

Faile stood up and smoothed out her skirt. "I call myself Faile," she said with a slight bow of her head. "I am seventeen and I have not had pie here yet." She paused as she thought about what interesting fact she should share about herself. "I have been learning to fight with knives since I was three." From observation, she knew that that was different from the majority of the students here.

Puppets! Boxing puppets! Bart wanted to know if they had those at T&C.

...

Yup. They did. Now he found something to do all the time when work was slow,

Oh, a film. Oh good. Maybe he could catch up on his sleep.

Or so he thought. . .

Raphael gaped at the film. His favorite part was anytime the puppets punched the guy in the head. He could certainly sympathize. He'd almost sympathize with the food processor lady, but her acting wasn't that convincing.

Was this Alton Brown guy for real? Later, he'd find Donnie, and after thoroughly beating him he'd recommend his brother watch Good Eats. It seemed like his kinda thing.

Evie took *copious* notes, because if they weren't going to make pie today, she wanted to be absolutely ready next time.

Although she really hoped they didn't have to put on a puppet show while they made the pies.

Faile perked up when she recognized Alton Brown. John had shown her this show last week! She smiled and paid very close attention to the show. He was very amusing.

Wow. This was amazing! An enraptured Anemone took lots of notes, punctuated by doodling the little puppets in the margins of her notebook.

She was really really hoping that Mr. Yondaime was bringing puppets to the next class. After all, the instructional video had puppets! That meant you can't make pie without puppet supervision. Right? Right.
