How to Blow Things Up: Period 2 Week 4

Aly had oh so handwavily asked her students to meet her at the main campfire.  When then students arrived, they'd see an assortment of devices that looked a lot like bombs running the gamut from the type of bomb you'd see in the movies to less sophisticated devices

She waited for everyone to arrive then started speaking.  "The last few classes, we've talked about how to blow things up.  Which is, admittedly, a lot of fun and also what the class is about.  Today, however, we're going to talk about what happens when you don't want the bomb to go off.  Disabling explosives is a hugely dangerous task, and in general, it's something you want to call in an expert to deal with."  She grinned.  "But I think we all know that when you need an expert, he or she is usually not around.  So today we - and by we, I mean you - are going to work on disarming explosive devices with not quite so many consequences if it's not done correctly."

Gesturing to the assortment of bombs,  she started discussing bomb disposal techniques including the use of a pigstick because that term is awesome and the ever-popular cutting of the correctly coloured wires.

"Now the trick here is that these devices aren't bombs.  But if they are disengaged incorrectly, they will explode."  She grinned.  "I hope you wore clothes that can get paint on them.  If not -" she pointed to a box "-there are some lovely and very fashionable smocks to put on."

"If you have any questions, feel free to ask.  Otherwise, pair up and have fun."

[OOC:  [personal profile] mouthy_mercwins for suggesting paint bombs.  More information on how this works in the OCD notes which are coming up]

Gavin took a seat and scratched his head. He could set off bombs but this required concentration and a knowledge he didn't have. Stupid being from another planet.

"It's the red wire," Seely said. "Always the red wire."

"Because red means stop?" Gavin asked. Wires. Why did there have to be wires?

Zuko didn't wait to pair up, he just picked out a bomb and studied the wires for a moment. No, the whole explanation hadn't made much sense to him. He picked up the wire cutter and just cut the blue one.

Charlie had a smock on, and a pigsticker in hand. "Want any help?" she offered diffidently. "Although you look like you've already got it."

Cally was pulling on a smock and looking carefully at the bomb.

This wasn't going to be as easy as the mole men's one, she thought.

Dib didn't put on a smock. He was used to having to wash odd stuff out of his clothing. not dirty! Well, I suppose dirty, but not like that...
He found a bomb, and started looking over it. It seemed simple enough, but there might be a trap...

Molly tucked her hat in her back pocket and put on a smock as she approached where Dib was working. "Hey, you need a partner still?" she asked by way of greeting.

Dib gave a nod. "Sure, I could use a partner."

Dean eyed the bomb thoughtfully as he waited for a partner.

"Hey," Ronan said, approaching. "Want to team up?"

"Sure," Dean said. "You wouldn't happen to have a bomb disarming spell would you?"

Anders hadn't had time to change before class, so he was here in the makeup, spiked collar, and black clothing from Abby's class, making a halfhearted attempt at acting like the kind of guy who set boy-band bobblehead dolls on fire.

"Funny, Casablancas," Anders grumbled, fiddling with one of the buckles on his PVC pants. "I got suckered into letting Abby's Goth class play dress-up with me."

Abigail looked through her notes as she waited to see if anyone needed a partner. She supposed that knowing how to keep bombs from blowing up could be sort of useful.

"Sure," Abigail replied. "You haven't, by any chance, disarmed a bomb before, have you?"

Gabriella von Santos de Redine - decked out in sunglasses, heels, and a fancy scarf, natch - was filing her nails and looking very put out about having to be in this silly class-thing today.

Kou eyed the bomb warily, wondering if he dared trying to disarm it by himself. Thankfully, his clothes were completely machine washable. Except for the leather vest, which he took off and tossed somewhere aside. And so he was carefully studying a bomb in nothing but a pair of camo pants and combat boots. And lots of tattoos.

Sexy.

"Do you need a partner?" Haku asked tilting his head curiously at the tattooed man with a small smirk.
