Detention - Saturday, May 19

When the students enter the Danger Shop for detention, they'll notice two very different things. One, it's snowing. Yes, snow is falling all around the Danger Shop. Two? Fraser's in long john's. It's probably the least amount of clothing he's ever worn during his time at Fandom High and thank you canon for the icons. Of course, they're red.

Even with snow falling, the temperature isn't freezing. It's cold but not freezing. There's a list of names on the board.

Fraser nodded a greeting as everyone filed in. "Please sign in and take your seats. Since the majority of you are here do to some form of naked mutiny, I think we can start by giving you the choice of serving this detention fully clothed or...in the same sense as myself. It's going to be snowing the entire time though."

He paused for a moment. "Today? You'll be saving Canada from four very different foes. On the outside, they appear normal, everyday people or things. You will have to judge, examine and defeat. If you fail, Canada will fall and that will be on your mind. If you succeed, you will have succeeded in saving one of the most beautiful countries on the planet."

It began snowing harder. Fraser, if anything, looked gleeful. "Visitors will be allowed during lunch and only during lunch. So, if you're ready, we'll begin."

Rikku stood up solemnly, hand over her heart. And wished that she hadn't worn her mutiny outfit to detention, because it was snowing, dammit.

"The mutiny was about more than just clothing. It was a strike for freedom from The Man's rules and basic tyranny. It was for expression and creativity and the ability to say, I reject these societal structures that say you need to cover so much of your body at all times, and shouldn't decorate someone's office in a cheerful surprise. My people, the Al Bhed, have different ideas of what constitutes appropriate clothing than the prevailing accepted norm here. Are you saying we are somehow less civilized? We live in a desert! And the human body is a beautiful, sacred thing, and only repressed Yevonites would try to make viewing it into a shameful act. Are you a Yevonite, Mr. Fraser? Are you?"

In the interests of a moving speech, Rikku left off key points such as "the guys just kinda stripped the first time", "I never tell hot guys to put their clothes back on" and "really, any excuse to get Jude (semi-)naked works me."

"I'm a turtle, mister underwear dude." Mikey figured that his reply was obvious. Mikey was also one article of clothing short today, sitting there with no mask. Mikey was also very cold. "They kinda don't make clothing for turtles. It's cold in here, did you notice?"

Much like the tasteful redecorating of an administrative office is a symbol of attempting to throw off the outward forces of oppression, so the removing of clothes and baring one's true flesh underneath is a symbol of attempting to throw off the inner forces of oppression, those cultural attitudes and values that make us less than we truly can be, and erode our hopes for trying to change."

Also, it had just seemed like a good idea at the time, but he wasn't going to mention that.

The Danger Shop morphs into a busy, snow filled street. On one side of the street, a little old lady is waiting for a safe time to cross the street. Your job is to go and help her. But beware...

Dawn approached the little old lady and stood next to her, waiting for the traffic light to change, trying very hard to ignore the actual picture of Seely in his underwear. "Would you like some help across? It looks pretty slippery."

Jude hopped onto his board and skidded to a halt in front of oncoming traffic. He was fairly confident that this being Canada, motorists would stop.

Well. Now wearing a bikini, a miniskirt, ruffly arm sleeves, and a toque - which, oddly enough, still counted as normal for your average Al Bhed - Rikku walked up to the little old lady and swept her a respectable bow. "Good morning, ma'am! How are you doing today?"

"Uh... Huh." He looked at the traffic, then at the old lady, and then decided, rather than giving the woman a heart attack, he'd try something a little less direct and he'd just stop the cars, instead.
By ninja-stepping in front of them and pretending to be the offspring of a giant monster from Tokyo.

Finally, the room morphs into a giant meadow thick with fallen snow. In the distance, a HUGE robot looms. Your job? Get past the robot and retrieve the Canadian flag he's stuck to a fence behind. Nothing to beware here. He's a giant robot.

Jude believed this was something called seredipity. A perfect opportunity to fulfill his mission from John. He gave himself a suitable headstart of the length of the snowy Canadian street and was in no time at all up to speed. Which for Jude was close to forty klicks an hour. He crouched low as he zoomed, using a convenient bench as a launchpoint to snatch the Mountie's hat, landing a few feet away and crowing in triumph.

Dude. He had just stolen an RCMP officer's hat.

Welcome to crack-tention. My brain was filled with Golden Girls, old television shows and Lifetime movies last night. It's a scary place in there.

Anyway, I'm around all day but at work so might be slow to ping in a few places. Visitors are perfectly welcome at lunch should they want.
