Bridge opens the library a few minutes early, coffee in hand.

Bridge shrugs. "Things are... still the same," he says. "Well, there's the stuff Isabel found out in SC, I guess."

Parker nodded, waving the notes. "Three of them. I wonder when it happened? I wonder *how* it happened? You're supposed to be so damn careful with those books-- gah."

"Yeah," Bridge makes a face. "Maybe the fact that the book belonged to her ancestor had something to do with it?"

"Oh for the love of-- yes. That would almost definitely have something to do with it." Parker shook her head, grimacing. "No one ever believes us about that place. Why? Whyyyy?"

"I really wish I could tell you," Bridge says mournfully.

"God, I wish I had powers sometimes. As much as I'd probably want to abuse them, at least I could *do* something right now."

Bridge snorts. "Don't be so sure of that," he says bitterly.

Parker frowned. "What? Why not?"

"I think... it must have been Lana, I think she messed with my powers somehow," Bridge admits.

"Oh, crap... Messed with, how?"

"At first I thought I'd lost control of them," Bridge says. "Because I could see everyone's auras, and there was this buzzing, in the back of my head, like thoughts, but louder. S'why I was wearing mittens in class the other day. But then I talked to Aly and it turns out my powers are actually being *blocked*. The auras I'm seeing aren't real, and it takes a lot of concentration to break the illusion."

"That beyond-bitch piece of--- gah, I don't have a word for her." Parker growled, and reached out to Bridge, squeezing his hand. "She must have known you might figure it out, with your abilities. But that's just harsh."

"Having them go out of control is pretty much the worst thing I can imagine," Bridge admits.

"It's going to be over soon," Parker said grimly. "We have a plan. Or at least, an approach to a plan. And if that doesn't work, I'm opting for dropping them in the ocean, seeing if they float."

"But it's not their fault, that they're possessed," Bridge points out quietly. And if it only just *really* sunk in that the same could apply to him. Well.

"No, of course not. But I'll bet they'd leave then." She cocked her head, studying him. "What's going through your mind?"

"That if Marie and Lana and Phoebe, if it's not their fault...it wasn't mine either. Even if he *was* using my powers."

"How could you ever think it was? Bridge--" Parker leaned over to gently turn his face toward hers. "Speaking as someone who's been possessed, bewitched, transformed, and messed with, it could never, ever be your fault. You didn't collaborate. You just got blind-sided. Do you believe that, now?"

"Yeah," Bridge says. "Now I do."

She let go of him, and smiled widely. "Yeah. Good. Change of perspective's wonderful, isn't it?"
