Tremble Foolish Mortals: The Gods and You, Class Ten [Period 5, Thursday]

Ares was fiddling with the controls of the dangershop as the class trooped in.

"Monotheism," he said, finally. "Clearly one of the worst ideas ever. Spawned by egotistic, cowardly gods who can't take a little competition when it comes to getting worshippers."

In case the class couldn't tell this was something of a sore spot for him. "And that's pretty much all I have to say on the matter."

"However," he said, touching a control and causing a vast CGI-ed structure to appear. "Since I'm under contract to deliver a lesson more than one paragraph long, today you're going to be recreating a battle between minions of one of these One Gods as set down in the mindless blatherings of that blonde which I only read to see what she wrote about me."

"Half of you are going to be demons, the other half angels," he said, and waved a hand. "You can pick which side you want to be on, and I've configured the dangershop so that once you've put on the provided costumes, the wings won't just be decorative. You'll be able to fly like you're doing wirework and hopefully fight while flying as well."

"Come on you puny angels! Come on! Let's see what you've got!" In her demon attire, Annette flapped her wings, testing them out and rose off the floor a good four feet. And she whipped out her foam sword, ready to battle the weakling's.

Rikku swung her foam sword around, testing the weight of it. And grinned. "Hey, don't taunt the angels. We get vicious when we're mad."

"Vicious angels?" Annette taunted, testing her own sword by slashing it this way and that. "I've never heard of a vicious angel before. Maybe you're just a devil in disguise? Hmm?"

Rikku stretched her wings once, twice, and then pushed off the ground. Ooooh, fun.

She tossed her sword from one hand to the other, and back again. "Hey, I don't gotta be evil to kick your butt."

Ooh, that tossing the sword thing from hand to hand was impressive and Annette grinned at Rikku, whispering, "Great moves." Then she cleared her throat and flapped her wings.

"You can't kick my butt. My wings are prettier than yours."

Rikku grinned, giggling. "Hey, this is what I do," she whispered back, striking a pose.

"Your wings are all bat-like and evil. Mine are, like, holy. And good. And your wings aren't anywhere near your butt anyway."

Annette stifled a giggle. "Mine are bat-like-graceful. Not evil but...darkly tempting." Yeah, that sounded great! Woot! "Yeah they are, kind of sort of." Annette peered over her shoulder and actually tried to look at her butt. Didn't work, but she did see that the very tips of her wings came close to her butt.

"Do too!" Annette brandished her sword. "En garde!"

"Your wings, whatever they're like, are going down! Touche!" Rikku shouted, laughing. And she zipped forward - hey, fighting mid-air wasn't so different from fighting underwater! - and made a few quick sideswipes at Annette with her foam sword.

"Ouch!" Annette whined, totally faking it, but hey, it was fun! "You are so going to get it you holier-than-thou thing with a sword." She snorted. "It's not even flaming or anything. Don't angels have flaming swords?" She thought she heard that somewhere or something.

Annette flapped her wings and thrust forward, towards Rikku, aiming for her heart! "Take that!"

Rikku giggled. "It's foam! If they set it on fire, it'll melt!"

She blocked Annette's heart shot and started thrusting and parrying like in old swordfighting movies. "Evil is totally gonna get it! You're all just jealous because good is peachy-keen!"

"Good point. You win!" Not really. Annette was just teasing because she was flying and wanting to keep hitting something or some angel with her magnificent foamy sword. Rikku to be exact. She also wouldn't mind lobbing off the angel head of Steerpike. But that was just in her mind where she could have fun with the images.

"What a load of crap angel freak!" Annette did her best to parry then thrust back in short little stabs. "You're just jealous cause all the boys in the yard think demon girls are sexxxaaayyy!"

Valentine stood on the ground and stared at the foamy thing in his hand.
And then he spread his wings, which was pretty cool.
And then he decided he'd much rather just fly laps.

The mun is gone to work for six hours or so; feel free to take him out from behind if you wish. He's a pushover.

Billy was partially raised by bad guys. He knocked Valentine over the head from behind. Not hard, but...still.

Valentine was accoted from the rear by a squishy foamy thing.
While in mid-air.
This was certainly a new experience, and he reacted the only way someone who never had wings before was apt to react.

He fell, of course. Flailing his arms all the way down.

"Go God! Oh Most High! Oh Yay! The ... way!" Evie was making like a cheerleader and bouncing around like a demented cherub. "Beat the demons!"

And -- "Ow." That would be her hitting her head on the structure.

Evie sighed, and stood on the ceiling, wings flapping gently. "The local historical society took it over. And said that it was too important for us to finish excavating. Rather a shame, I think. But at least the school gets credit for finding it!"

It took a moment or two for Isabel to figure out the mechanics of flight, but when she did, she took to the air, sword in hand.
