All around the room today were street signs that looked very realistic. So realistic, in fact, one might think that the teacher went out the night before and ran around stealing them from all over Fandom.

Which was just silly.

He stole them from the mainland.

"Sign, sign, everywhere a sign. Do this, don't do that. Can't you read the sign?" Wade deadpanned. "Today we're going to learn about why learning to read road signs is very, very important. Important in a way that actually matters, unlike other 'important' things like math or science. Knowing how to read signs will prevent you from doing stupid things like accidently driving off a bridge that was under construction and crashing into a zoo where you get knocked out of the car and land in a cage of angry leopards who haven't been fed all day and think you look like the best thing since small fuzzy bunnies." A pause. "Not that I've ever done that or anything."

He coughed. "Signs! Yes!" He stood and passed out a series of handouts.

(Man I love those wiki-things.)

"Any questions about the handouts can be directed toward me or my color coordinated minion."

Conner was here! And if anyone asked, he had a probably not-very-encouraging story about how there hadn't been any signs warning Doctor Oliver about the life-size robotic T-rex that had tried to chase him. And how Doctor O had, despite being in an open-roofed Jeep, made sure to buckle his seat belt and lock the doors.

Because that was the most important safety precaution you could take against a T-rex trying to eat you.

Mel looked over at the TA. "So when do we get the flying cars?"

"Not in my time," Conner said, completely misunderstanding the question. Then the whole idea captured his imagination (he really did have one) and he stared off into space. "Flying cars . . . dude."

"So no flying cars then?" Mel grumped.

"Sorry," Conner said. "Not that I know of. You want me to try and convince Professor D to go for that?"

Mel gave Connor a sly grin. "Depends. What's it going to cost me?"

Conner raised an eyebrow and drummed his fingers thoughtfully on his desk. "I don't know. What're you willing to offer?"

"Why don't you tell me what you think it's worth and I'll counter offer," Mel smirked.

"Oh, I don't know . . . it's worth at least one drink," Conner replied slowly.

"Just a drink?" Mel said with a slight smirk. "You sure you won't get in trouble with your boss for accepting bribes?"

"What? With Professor D?" Conner snorted. "I'd probably get extra credit."

"So you get extra credit and a drink and I get a flying car?" Mel said. "Sounds like a deal."

"I got the better half of it," Conner informed her, grinning.

"Just a drink, cowboy," Mel said shaking her finger. "If you get me the car? Then we'll talk dinner."

"I meant the extra credit, actually," Conner replied with a wink. "But just for that I'll see what I can do about the car."

"Well if it's just the extra credit you want..."

". . . not that I'd be saying no to the rest!"

"Mmm-hmmm. We'll see about that."

"Oh, you bet we will. I'll get you that flying car."
