Intro to 21st Century Pop Culture - Monday, Fifth Period
As the students entered the room, Lorelai handed out candy canes. Once everyone was in and settled, she began speaking.
"I want to thank you all for being such a great class. I've had a lot of fun teaching you all this semester and I hope you learned a lot that will help you get by while you're here. Today is your turn to teach me. Everyone will have a turn to give a presentation on a form of pop culture from their home time or place."
She sat back with a large cup of coffee and a tablet to take notes on the presentations.
[ooc: if you need to handwave, please comment and say so. any questions, hit me ooc and I'll answer as soon as I can.]

Re: Presentations!
at the coaxing of some other players."Oh, oh. I did a little research, and here are the names of a few of the popular plays. Ummmm, there's 'Faster Chakram, Kill, Kill', 'Buffus the Bacchae Slayer', 'A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Acropolis', and 'The Women Of Trachis'."
Re: Presentations!
"During festivals and national holidays it is common in the Fire Nation for street performers to show off their skills in firebending. They give shapes to the flames and come up with a show to impress their audience. Something like this," he said, stepping back and conjuring up a flame between his hands. He tried to give it the shape of a dragon, but it might have looked more like a wiener dog.
He started moving the flame around him, the flame moving faster as he made it swirl over his head and around his body but he kept it far away enough from the other students. Deciding that should do, he let the flame die down and was already moving to sit back down.

"Quidditch is probably the most popular sport in wizarding England. The Quaffle is a bright red ball, inert and the equivalent to the one ball used in many Muggle games, though it has a charm placed on it so that it slows as it falls and to make it easier to hold. Chasers handle it, trying to throw it through one of the hoops of the opposing team, which is worth ten points. The Keeper guards his or her goal hoops. Two heavy iron balls called Bludgers fly around the field on their own trying to hit players, and the Beaters use clubs to defend their team or to hit the Bludgers at the opposing team. Finally, the tiny and winged Golden Snitch darts around at very high speeds and the Seeker attempts to catch it. Doing so scores 150 points and ends the game, generally winning it in the process. A player could still catch the Snitch and lose a game for their team should the opposing team lead by more than 150 points.
There are 700 ways to commit a Quidditch foul."
He paused.
"I was actually a Seeker for my house Quidditch team. It's one of the things I miss most about Hogwarts."
