When the students walked into the shop, they would see The Tick standing at a podium that probably looked vaguely futuristic back in the mid-1990's: a rounded white plastic frame and clear plexiglass. There were lights and smoke in the background. Behind Tick was a large sign with the following names listed:

Ranma Saotome

Naomi Wildman

When everyone was in the shop, the Tick pushed a button on the Danger Shop remote and spotlights started swinging around.

"Hello, detentioned students! I am The Tick, and I'm not only your Dean of Students, but today I am also your host for Detention Gladiators!" Tick stayed silent as a vaguely patriotic-sounding theme song played for thirty seconds.

"Today you'll be competing in four challenges that will test your mind, body, heart, and ability to think like a crazy person! Hopefully by the end of our time together you'll have learned your lesson - or in Naomi's case set a positive example since she did nothing wrong - and will be ready to move on to the next phase of your lives, without rule breaking!"

"And remember, the Shop is set up with extensive safety protocols! You're completely safe! Explosions won't be real, brutes won't actually hit hard, and the sheer power of the criminal mind won't overwhelm you!"

"SPOOOON!"

[OOC: You do not need to know who any of the hologram NPCs are, but you might enjoy it more if you do. Here's some info on them. This should be crack crack crack and more crack, for the record. Detention will run from approximately 9 AM EST to 5 PM EST, but you're free to go when you've completed all of the tasks. If it takes longer, I'm fine playing longer if you are. :)

John picked up the giant cotton swab, wondering how many cotton fields were harvested so that some ginormous dude could clean his ears, and gave it a heft and a spin. Huh. THis should be fun.

"Challenging you, John, is one of the Idea Men!" Tick called out as a man in a suit and metal helmet climbed up on the platform and picked up his jousting stick

"Mmmmrrr mmrrr mrrr!" the Idea Man said. His voice was completely muffled underneath his helmet, so whatever he said was lost. He turned to John, took a defensive stance, and taunted, "Mrrff mrr mrrrrf!"

JOhn held out the giant swab in a defensive stance, testing the size of the platform. He sat there for a minute.

Getting the impression that the first strike was up to him, the Idea Man started with a swing to John's shoulder. "Mrrr mrrf mrrrr!" he taunted.

JOhn ducked to the side and thrust out his swab into MuffleBoy's torso.

The thrust hit. The Idea Man swore. "Mrrf mrr mrrf rrrf mrr!" In retaliation, he swung his jousting stick up in an uppercut strike.

It connected, and john fell back a bit and dropped to what could be the classic SpidyMan pose to stay on the platform.

He got up, and did a doublefisted roundhouse sword slash at Mumble's legs.

The Idea Man jumped to dodge the slash, but one foot was caught, tripping him and sending him off the platform. "Mrrrrrrrrrrrf!" he yelled as he fell.

"Well done, John!" Tick called out.

"Woo! Are we doing this next weekend, cuz I'm sure I'll be here."

Heck, JOhn could do this a couple times a week.

"That's up to next week's instructor. You're already signed up to be here, though. Last night you earned your second detention," Tick said. "I'm sure next week's instructor will keep things entertaining, though."

"I'm sure it will be."
