Detention, The Danger Shop, 09.08.06

When the students walked into the shop, they would see The Tick standing at a podium that probably looked vaguely futuristic back in the mid-1990's: a rounded white plastic frame and clear plexiglass. There were lights and smoke in the background. Behind Tick was a large sign with the following names listed:

John Connor
Hikaru Hitachiin
Kaoru Hitachiin
Jude Lizowski
Jamie Madrox
Peter Pevensie
Setsuna Sakurazaki
Ranma Saotome

Naomi Wildman

When everyone was in the shop, the Tick pushed a button on the Danger Shop remote and spotlights started swinging around.

"Hello, detentioned students! I am The Tick, and I'm not only your Dean of Students, but today I am also your host for Detention Gladiators!" Tick stayed silent as a vaguely patriotic-sounding theme song played for thirty seconds.

"Today you'll be competing in four challenges that will test your mind, body, heart, and ability to think like a crazy person! Hopefully by the end of our time together you'll have learned your lesson - or in Naomi's case set a positive example since she did nothing wrong - and will be ready to move on to the next phase of your lives, without rule breaking!"

"And remember, the Shop is set up with extensive safety protocols! You're completely safe! Explosions won't be real, brutes won't actually hit hard, and the sheer power of the criminal mind won't overwhelm you!"

"SPOOOON!"

[OOC: You do not need to know who any of the hologram NPCs are, but you might enjoy it more if you do. Here's some info on them. This should be crack crack crack and more crack, for the record. Detention will run from approximately 9 AM EST to 5 PM EST, but you're free to go when you've completed all of the tasks. If it takes longer, I'm fine playing longer if you are. :)

"Now, if you'll step over here, you'll see two circular platforms and two giant cottony swabs! Well, they're actually foam, not cotton, and they're for safe violence, not cleaning! Your goal is to face off against a vile villain and use the giant foam swab to try to knock him off his platform, or at least draw by staying on yours for sixty seconds!"

"Remember, even the bigger opponents are beatable! They're slower, and more capable of toppling over if you sweep their feet well!"

[OOC: Standard rules of combat apply but with a reminder: this is very close combat with a weapon that WILL NOT hurt you. You''ll get hit almost every time, it's just a matter of how well it connected. That is up to the person being attacked. Students always get the first shot here and all of the NPC villains are defeatable.]

A very large red man, about the size of The Tick, hopped onto the platform and picked up his jousting stick. "I am The Tick!"

"No you're not, I'm The Tick. You're Barry. We've been over this, Barry!"

"Stupid INSECT, I'll crush you..."

"No you won't, Barry! You're just a hologram!"

Barry hung his head in defeat and looked toward Seely. "FINE! Okay, you little brat, are you ready to be crushed by the might of The T... Barry?" His bravado was largely deflated when he said his name and he hadn't bothered getting into a defensive stance yet.

A man dressed in a style that could only be described as "Ancient Aztec Meets Little League" climbed onto the platform and picked up the jousting stick, gripping it like a baseball bat. "Prepare to meet your doom itlan."

The Tick spoke up. "Don't worry about the 'itlan' stuff. Wally's not completely right in the head!"

Wally turned towards Tick. "Don't speak about the sacred word itlan!"

Oh, look at that. Wally was distracted.

John picked up the giant cotton swab, wondering how many cotton fields were harvested so that some ginormous dude could clean his ears, and gave it a heft and a spin. Huh. THis should be fun.

"Challenging you, John, is one of the Idea Men!" Tick called out as a man in a suit and metal helmet climbed up on the platform and picked up his jousting stick

"Mmmmrrr mmrrr mrrr!" the Idea Man said. His voice was completely muffled underneath his helmet, so whatever he said was lost. He turned to John, took a defensive stance, and taunted, "Mrrff mrr mrrrrf!"

Peter grinned at the idea before he remembered this was supposed to be a punishment. He picked up a swap, feeling the weight.

A cow climbed up on the platform. "Moooo," it said before picking up the jousting stick in her mouth.

"Beware, Peter! You'll be dueling with the dreaded Man-Eating Cow! She's ruthless!"

The Man-Eating Cow glared at Peter. As much as a cow can glare.

Santa Claus stepped onto the platform and picked up the jousting stick. "Ho ho ho." He took a defensive stance.

"Jamie, you'll be dueling against Multiple Santa!" Tick called out.

Two men in body suits sporting the white cross on red symbol commonly known by owners of Swiss army knives stepped onto the platform. Ignoring the jousting sticks provided, they took giant SAKs from their backs and pulled out the Jousting Stick Tool, and prepared to battle like only the Swiss can.

A youngish man who looked amazingly like Russian dictator Joseph Stalin stepped onto the platform, picked up the jousting stick, and nodded before taking a defensive postition. "Hello. I am Stalingrad. I shall drop on iron curtain on you."

Sakurazaki picked up her giant non-cottony, actually-foamy swab, twirled it and tossed it a couple of times to get used to the weight and balance of the thing. Definately not the sort of weapon she was used to, but she could easily get the hang of this thing, to be sure. She centred her positioning on the circular platform, gripping the swab in a ready position.

A very large, muscular clown jumped onto the platform and picked up the jousting stick. "Protoclown destroy people who think he's funny! No laugh at Protoclown!"

Tick called out from the side, "Be careful, Sakurazaki! He's really strong! One time he punched me into orbit! But I'm confident that you can take him!"

A tall man wearing a yellow costume, a helmet that resembled a large light bulb with a skull painted on it, a purple cape, and a pig in place of his lower right leg - yes, his right leg below the knee was a living, breathing pig with an independent mind if you wanted the way it wandered around the platform - climbed up onto the platform.

The Tick spoke up. "Ranma, you'll be facing The Deadly Bulb!"

"The name's Pigleg!" Deadly Bulb shouted.

"No, you reformed when you changed your name to Pigleg. You were a villain as The Deadly Bulb. The students are facing villains! Come to terms with your continuity, chum!"

"Fine," Bulb said, picking up the jousting stick. "Take one shot free and I'll show you WATT's up when you face The Deadly Bulb!"

The pig snorted.

A red whirlwind spun up to the platform and and stopped spinning to grab the jousting stick. "Haha! Ye cannot defeat the Whirling Scottish Devil!" the man taunted.

He was wearing ridiculous facial hair, a devil cowl, a white tank top, and a kilt.
