Baking Workshop 8/7, Monday Morning

"Good morning," Piper says as the students arrive. She points out the plate on the counter. "You're going to make chocolate snickerdoodles today."

"The only extra ingredient in these is cocoa. Really," she adds as she hands them a list of instructions. "Feel free to ask questions if you have any."


Equipment Needed

Mixing Bowl

Measuring Cups

Measuring Spoons

Baking Sheets

Spatula


Ingredients

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1 1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup butter, softened

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 eggs

2 cups flour

3/4 cup cocoa

1 teaspoon cream of tartar

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons sugar


Instructions

Preheat oven to 400F

Combine sugar, butter, vanilla and eggs.

Mix well.

Stir in cocoa, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt.

Blend well.

Shape dough into 1 inch balls.

Combine 2 tablespoons sugar and 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon.

Roll dough in sugar/cinnamon mixture and place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.

Bake 8 to 10 minutes, or until set.

Immediately remove from cookie sheets.

Angela gave Bel a look out of the corner of her eye as she started mixing her ingredients. "Phoebe?"

Bel shook his head. "Bel," he said. "I'm, uh, back to normal. You?"

Angela looked down at herself. "Also me," she said. "Did I really wear armor?"

Bel nodded. "Look at the bright side -- at least you didn't run naked through the halls wearing nothing but a towel. Poor Willow."

"She did that?" Angela said, stifling a giggle. "Probably better I missed it. I think I thought Joxer was kind of a perv, so..."

Molly was glad they were making cookies again. They were so much easier than cakes or pies. Mostly because if you burned one pan of cookies, you had more chances to get them right.

She measured out all of the ingredients before starting to mix everything together.

Cally started out by measuring her ingredients very carefully.

After the whole over-sugared brownies, she made sure to get these measurements right.

Isabel's made snickerdoodles lots of times before, but never with cocoa. She's interested in seeing how they turn out. Still yawning and clutching her coffee cup for dear life, she started to measure out ingredients.

"It's early," Greg whined, toddling over with his own ingredients.

She pushed her coffee across the counter towards him. "Here. Caffiene. It'll help."

"It was a long weekend. I know I'll be napping after the workshop is done," Isabel said. "Can you hand me the sugar, please?"

Alphonse got straight to work, being extra careful with the measurements and ingredients he worked with.

After glancing over the instructions and considering the day's mission, Sakurazaki was pretty certain she'd need the usual assistence. "Mind working together again, Alphonse?" She sounded nervous asking, although she really should know that she had no need to be.

"Hm?" Alphonse looked over his shoulder, setting down what he was just measuring out. "Oh, Setsuna! Sure, I don't mind at all."

"Good," Sakurazaki smiled a little as she nodded, and then she quickly took in what Alphonse already had measured. "Here, I'll get baking soda and salt," she decided quickly, dividing up what was still left to measure.

"Then I'll get what I need of the sugar," Alphonse said, already proceeding to do so, then pouring it in a small empty bowl. "And then we're halfway done."

Alanna started measuring out her ingredients. Every once in a while she glared at Faithful, who was finding life amusing.
