"Good morning," Piper says as the students arrive. She points out the plate on the counter. "You're going to make chocolate snickerdoodles today."

"The only extra ingredient in these is cocoa. Really," she adds as she hands them a list of instructions. "Feel free to ask questions if you have any."

Measuring Cups

Measuring Spoons

Baking Sheets

Spatula

Ingredients

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1 1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup butter, softened

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 eggs

2 cups flour

3/4 cup cocoa

1 teaspoon cream of tartar

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons sugar

Instructions

Preheat oven to 400F

Combine sugar, butter, vanilla and eggs.

Mix well.

Stir in cocoa, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt.

Blend well.

Shape dough into 1 inch balls.

Combine 2 tablespoons sugar and 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon.

Roll dough in sugar/cinnamon mixture and place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.

Bake 8 to 10 minutes, or until set.

Immediately remove from cookie sheets.

"He's good in my book," Greg said happily, flicking flour right back at her. "And yeah, but don't worry about it. I have a ton to analyze. Jarod's got me working on his hair this week."

"Okay, but let me know when you'd like it. I'd trust you with a sample, but not too many others." She started rolling the dough into balls and dropping them in the cinnamon/sugar mixture. "I'm glad you guys hit it off. I was hoping you would."

Greg did the same, and smiled. "Jarod and Cedric'll help me build my ball pit, right?"

"Oh absolutely," Isabel grinned. "And I bet Jack would to if he sees that it makes Cedric happy. I'd help to if you really needed it."

"It will be awesome. And then we'll have a password and only cool people will be allowed in," Greg decided.

"It'll be the new happening place in town," she nodded, yawning. "Naptime, soon."

"Very soon," Greg agreed, also yawning. "Possibly here."

"Not here, someone will put flour in your hair," Isabel teased. "Not that I would ever do that."

Greg glanced at Alanna across the room. "That would be mean."

Isabel grinned, "I promise, I'll protect you." She place the dough balls on the tray and slid it into the oven. "Why did she do that anyway?"

"She's mean!" Greg said, shrugging, putting his own cookies in the oven. "I may have been a little obnoxious, but really."

"A little?" she asked, walking over to stand next Greg.

"Not a lot," Greg affirmed. "Just my sweet, normal, lovable self, really."

Isabel laughed and slipped her arms around his waist to give him a quick hug. "That explains so much. Want to come back and take a nap with me after we're done?"

Greg pressed a kiss to her temple and replied, "Of course. My ball pit plans can wait."

"Sounds like a plan then," she grinned, peering at the ovens hopefully. "And it looks like we might even have cookies."
