Library [08/01]

Rory hurried into the library and turned on the fan immediately before outfitting the desk with both a bottle of water and an iced latte.

With these fortifications, she was ready to spend the day there.

Jack handed her a fork, and smirked. "Kind of." Tapping the coffee he'd placed on the counter, he said, "That's yours, too."

"Thank you, Jack," Rory said, taking the fork and happily taking a sip of the coffee. "You didn't have to do any of this."

Jack shrugged, smiling as he twirled the fork between his fingers. "A guy's got to look after his fake-fiancee. And it's fun to do things for you."

Rory smiled. "Even if I left you at the altar?" she asked seriously, taking a bit of the cake. "This is wonderful, thank you."

"I've got to win you back somehow," Jack replied, smirking a little as he nabbed a bit of cake for himself. "Chocolate seemed like a good place to start. And coffee."

"I figured." He grinned and stole another bit of cake. "New and interesting, huh? I'm going on a rafting trip this weekend, with Izzy, Greg, Parker, Jarod, Sam and Cedric. Does that qualify?"

"Yeah, I know. Magic hair boy is a bit strange, but Izzy likes him, so..." Jack shrugged in a 'what can you do gesture'. "And whitewater rafting somewhere. I don't actually remember where, but I'm pretty sure it's near a river," he laughed. "At least I hope so."

"And it might make the whitewater part a bit difficult." Jack shook his head, amused. "Greg could probably figure out some way to colour the water white, but it wouldn't be the same. What about you? What exciting things have you been up to?"

"Well...I dyed my hair blonde because of Sam's cookies," she offered, snagging a little more of the cake. "And this past weekend I discovered that drinking games are a terrible, terrible idea."

Jack winced slightly. "But you know it wasn't really Sam's fault, right?" he asked, eyeing what was left of the cake and deciding to leave it for Rory. "And I saw a bit of the aftermath of the drinking game - I'm sorry I missed it. It sounded very interesting."

She raised a brow. "Who'd you run into on Hangover Sunday?"

Jack beamed at her. "Exactly. I told her people wouldn't hold it against her." His smile softened. "And I ended up with a pre-Hangover Sunday Cedric after the drinking game. I don't think he'd ever been drunk before - he was very cute."
