Lying and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them, Class #3

"Hello!" Jarod waved to the gathered students. The bandage was gone from his head, but the stitches were still visible. "Today we'll be learning about how to keep a secret, and I mean a real secret here, one that someone's life is depending on, by telling the truth."

"The kicker here is that someone will be asking you questions, trying to find out what the secret is. It's your job to answer their questions as completely as possible, but to still keep that secret. Then you'll switch. You'll each pick a secret of your own, and write it down on a piece of paper before you start. Then, your partner will write down what they think the secret is when they're finished, and show it to you. I'm trusting you to tell them if they got it right."

"Also, please feel free to have some coffee, juice, fruit, and bagels," he gestured at the table behind him.

"Yeah, I've got mine." Z wrote hers down, too, and folded the paper. "Ready?"

"Ya." she nodded.

"Okay..." Z had no idea how to go about this. "Where are you from?" she started. Lamely.

"I was born on the open sea but I have a home in Sweden."

"Is the sea involved in your secret?"

Pippi thought about that.

"Not any more."

"Are you a natural redhead?"

"Yes."

Yes-or-no questions weren't really culling her a lot of information, but Z couldn't think of a better way to approach the problem. "Does it have something to do with your family?"

"Yeah, I guess you could say that it does. Just a bit though."

Z realized she sucked at this interrogation thing. She wished she'd brought her music player. The song stylings of Sydney Drew would be enough to wear anyone down and have them confessing the truth, she thought.

"Have you ever broken the law?"

"If I have, I was, and still am, unaware of it..."

"Good. Breaking the law is bad," Z said. Hey, she was going to be a cop. She should at least make an effort. "What are your thoughts on ~~yaoi~~ the sea?"

"I'm told it covers most of the planet." Pippi said. "But to me, it's the whole world. It's freedom. It's home. But if you are trying to discover my secret, you're getting colder."

"Darn it." Z fiddled with her necklace as she thought about her next question. "Is Sweden involved in this secret?"

"If you had asked that question before I came to school here, I would have said yes. But right now, the answer is no."

"Huh. Okay, are you human?" Do they even have aliens in Sweden?

((Totally fine. After I posted that last question I sort of fell asleep at the computer, then signed off. Conscious again now, yay!))

"I have always considered myself human, I never really thought about it... Though people sometimes assume otherwise. I'm pretty sure I'm human though. And if there are alians in Sweden, I have not met them. But I'd like to."

"What about you makes people assume you're not human?"

((Er, the part about aliens wasn't spoken...))

"Among other things, I'm very very strong." she said.

"Among other things?"

((Happens to all of us now and then. No worries. :) ))

"I never really thought about it, but there's a few things I can do that other people can't... Or so I thought until I came here. But, again, you're getting colder from my secret. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to tell you that or not... Forget I said that." she grinned.

"Probably not, but since the point of this exercise is for you to lie successfully, I'd say you're doing pretty well. Um, does your secret have anything to do with a guy?"

"I was thinking about making my secret about a guy, but I was told recently that it wasn't so much a secret... So I chose a secret that was different but doesn't really have to do with a guy."

"...does it have to do with a girl? Other than you, I mean."
