Wilderness Survival - Week 7| Thursday Morning, A Clearing in the Woods

"Just because it's out last lesson doesn't mean I'm going easy on you," Callisto said, pointing to the lockers. "Clothes and shoes."

"Now that we've got that out of the way," Callisto said. "Today's class is going to be something of a test, to see how well you actually listened to me over the pst few weeks."

Callisto picked up a large piece of paper. "Now, somewhere in this preserve is this person." She turned over the paper. "Your mission, should you want your shoes and clothes back, is to use the skills I've taught you to hunt down and capture... this kid with doofy hair. Because unless you've brought him back here by the end of class? I'm keeping your stuff. Have fun."

Callisto made shooing motions with her hands. "Well, what are you waiting for?"

[ooc: the wonderful like_a_sponge has graciously volunteered to help with the class today and will be tagging in later, in the meantime just split into groups or go off by yourself looking for poor Greggie.

ETA - No killing or seriously maiming Greg!]

So, if I were a psychotic blonde intent on amusing herself at my expense, Parker thought, where would I hide one geeky guy with weird hair?

Hmmmm.

Checking her map, she looked for a ca ve, or a stand of trees to tie Greg to, then considered the terrain, looking for 'clues.'

Joxer jumped. "I wasn't trying to be sneaky," Joxer said with a huff. "You shouldn't jump to conclusions, you know. I'm following the trail of the weird-haired guy. You just happen to be on the right track too, that's all."

Parker gave him a look. "Do I have to push you in a sand pit, Joxer? Or are you going to let me find him and not mess it up? Careful how you answer. I can always come back and rescue *you* for extra credit."

Aeryn is very careful as she walks along, looking and listening and also on the lookout for traps because she doesn't put it past Callisto. And she's also aware she can't actually hurt Greg. Because Isabel might get mad at her. Dammit.

A twig crackled behind Aeryn, but there was very clearly no one there.

Except perhaps a rock, which might have been thrown from somewhere nearby to make that noise.

Aeryn turns and watches as the rock bounces to a stop. That gives her a pretty good idea of the direction it came from so she picks it up- just in case- and quietly heads into that direction.

And there might have been some rustling and a muffled "Eep!" from a bush.

Sometimes bushes make noise, okay?

Aeryn tosses the rock into the bush. Lightly. Because concussing him in the wild would be fine, but notsomuch in a classroom setting.

Molly started walking around the edge of the clearing looking for footprints leading out. Especially prints that looked like they were wearing modern shoes.

"Hi Molly!" Buffy wandered up to her, smiling. "Wanna hunt Greggies with me?"

"Well, I never really paid attention to Greg's feet," Molly said as she went back to looking at the ground, "but I'm guessing tennis shoes of some kind."

Alec took off on his own. This was like the hunting exercises he was used to, except the object wasn't to beat the prey to death with your bare hands at the end of it.

Well, he was pretty sure that wasn't the goal, anyway.

In any case, a bush near Alec stirred when Greg threw a rock into it, and then fell silent again.

Alec stopped immediately and listened for other movement - not only from the bush, but around where he stood, turning to look at the surrounding woods as well.

Alec snorted lightly and left the area, then rounded back carefully to see if anything decided to move when it thought he was gone.

Hamlet hung around the back of the pack, trying listen carefully for anything that could sound like a geek crashing through the underbrush. There couldn't have been too many of them out in the woods.

Sam took off into the woods, trying to think of everything Callisto had taught them. He almost wished Dean was here; going on a hunt for someone just didn't feel quite as right without him.

Surviving in the woods was one thing, but Alphonse never had to look for someone while in the middle of nowhere. Well, time to improvise; he starts wandering around and figures he'll decide what to do once the opportunity hits.
