Baking Workshop 7/3, Monday Morning

Piper smiles at the students as they arrive, but this time, it might be a sad smile. This is the last time they'd be in her workshop after all. "I hope you all brought recipes with you this morning. I brought copies of the brownie recipe in case any of you forgot."

She points out the plate of brownies in front of her. "I even made some for you."

"I'll be here if you need help with anything or if you have questions," Piper continues. She looks at all of them. "Thanks for making my first workshop somewhat successful...and for not burning the classroom down."

She couldn't help adding that last part.

Thanks to some help from his cooking study buddy, Anders had found a frittata recipe (http://homecooking.about.com/library/archive/blbreak15.htm) for something called a Greek scramble. Being Caprican, of course, he'd decided to rename it a Colonial scramble for his own purposes. The ingredients, of course, were pretty much the same.

This was, however, rather ambitious of him, and he was fated to have one disastrous attempt before succeeding in producing something edible.

Willow gave Anders a small wave, seeming a bit downcast but trying to hide it.

"Willow?" Anders picked up on the diminished Willow-cheerfulness, so he set down the whisk he'd been about to inflict on the eggs and jogged over to her. "Hey. You okay this morning?"

Willow gave a quick nod, not trusting herself to talk.

Anders knew that feeling. "You look like you could use a hug," he said softly.

Willow most definitely could. She put her things down so Anders wouldn't get egg all over him.

"C'mere," Anders said, giving her a long hug. "Hugs are always good when you're not up to talking, but I'm good for talking too if you need that, later."

"Thank you," Willow said, giving him a tight squeeze. "Um. Is it okay if I share the souffles? I'm making little ones."

In honor of her cooking study buddy, Willow made chocolate souffles (http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/cda/recipe_print/0,1946,FOOD_9936_17141_PRINT-RECIPE-FULL-PAGE,00.html), only with vanilla ice cream instead of caramel sauce. And she melted the chocolate in the microwave instead of a double boiler.

As she worked she seemed quiet and lost in her own thoughts.

Stark had found a recipe for chocolate chip muffins to try. They seemed like they'd be simple to make which was always a good thing.

So he started making up two batches, in case one went horribly, horribly wrong.

Maia got the brownie recipe from Piper's desk. Frowning slightly she wished now she had gotten up the nerve to make the bunt cake. Oh well, she might give it a try over the break.

Seperating out her ingredients Maia started to mix up her brownies.

"Hey, bra," Jude greeted her as he ambled over to a baking station and using great stealth removed two boxes of his Super Sekkrit Ingredient from his pocket and hid them behind the bag of chocolate chips.

"Hey." Maia said happily. "Are you going to make brownies today or did you bring a recipe?"

Jude tapped his forehead. "It's all up here, bra. Well, okay, I have a back-up copy just in case . . ." He pulled a very wrinkled piece of paper out of his pocket. If Maia were to read over it, she would find a line reading simply, "Secret Ingredient".

"Secret Ingredient...What's the secret?" She whispered because she had read it, she was curious.

"Can't tell ya, bra. That's why it's a secret." He looked very serious. Maybe he was. "It took me years to perfect my own chocolate chip cookie recipe."

Maia raised an eyebrow and lowered her voice even more. "Are they hash cookies?" She asked thinking his secret ingredient was weed.

Sam set out her ingredients and her laminated chocolate mousse recipe (http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_14189,00.html), and remembering last time, put the mixing bowl and beaters into the refrigerator, as she tried to remember what Tempe had said about not killing the proteins.

She put the pot of hot water on the stove and turned the burner on, waiting for it to simmer.

Anders looked over and mimed a cheerleading pom-pom routine at Sam. And hoped he didn't get recruited to the squad for it.

"Hey, I can only go so far," he defended himself, laughing too. "Think you're up for this after the practice run?"

"I hope so," Sam said, feeling a little confident. "Although I don't know what I'm going to do without Tempe's help. Or, er, Anakin's, of course."

"It wasn't so bad," Sam defended him. "Neither one of us died."
