Baking Workshop 7/3, Monday Morning

Piper smiles at the students as they arrive, but this time, it might be a sad smile. This is the last time they'd be in her workshop after all. "I hope you all brought recipes with you this morning. I brought copies of the brownie recipe in case any of you forgot."

She points out the plate of brownies in front of her. "I even made some for you."

"I'll be here if you need help with anything or if you have questions," Piper continues. She looks at all of them. "Thanks for making my first workshop somewhat successful...and for not burning the classroom down."

She couldn't help adding that last part.

Feeling a little silly, Anders looked around to see if anyone else was watching and planted a brief but somewhat noisy kiss on his tomato. "I must be losing my touch. The spinach is completely unharmed."

"Could be because you're not cheating on anybody," Willow said. "Not unless Conner is possessive."

"You really think he'd get jealous of a tomato?"

"I could see him being upset that you got there first," Willow replied.

Anders gave the tomato a slightly guilty look before he took a knife to it. "Okay, we should get rid of the evidence then."

"I admire your morbid side," Willow told him.

"It can't talk if it's all diced," Anders replied with a wink.

"See, now I'm wondering if it's going to start screaming."

Anders ~~heard the screams of the vegetables watching their skins being peeled~~ actually listened carefully as he chopped up the tomato. "So far nothing, unless it screams in a register only dogs can hear."

"I suppose we could ask Vladdie, but I'm guessing he's not into veggies much either."

Anders grinned. "RIC could probably tell too. But if we keep talking about this I'm gonna have vegetable guilt."

"Those tomatoes were totally plotting to kill you," Willow said. "I could tell."

"Then it's a good thing they're gonna end up in a frying pan. They'll never bother anyone again." Anders dumped the tomatoes into a measuring cup, oiled the frying pan carefully, and picked up the measuring cup full of spinach. "Here goes nothing."

"Should I hold up a strainer to protect myself?" Willow teased.

Anders stuck his tongue out at her and dumped the spinach into the pan. He figured he was lucky that it didn't immediately start splattering him with hot oil.

Willow leaned against the counter and watched him. "Smells good. That's a hopeful sign."

Anders sniffed experimentally and nodded before pouring in the egg and herb mixture. "Yeah, so far so good. How's the souffle coming along?"

Willow turned the oven light on so she could peer at it. "Hasn't fallen yet. Which just goes to show that whole thing about being mice while baking it is a myth."

"Being mice?"

Hey, it was Fandom. It could be literal.

"As in 'quiet as a'?" Willow said. Her timer went off. She got potholders to take the ramekins out. They looked and smelled souffle-like. Willow seemed unhappy with the result though.

Anders peered over her shoulder into the oven. "Oooh, those look good . . . something wrong?"

"They could be taller," Willow said. She looked like this was the worst news in the world. "And - and it's almost lunch."

Anders patted her on the shoulder. "Hey, we won't pick on 'em just 'cause they're not the tallest souffles in the bunch. I mean, it's what you do with it that counts, right? Not the size?"

"Right," Willow said. She wiped at her eyes again. Darn allergies. "I brought ice cream. Wanna try yours?"

"I'd love to." Anders had turned his attention to crumbling the feta cheese into the frying pan and didn't notice Willow wiping her eyes, unfortunately. "Let me get this thing cooked and on a plate, 'kay?"
