Baking Workshop 7/3, Monday Morning

Piper smiles at the students as they arrive, but this time, it might be a sad smile. This is the last time they'd be in her workshop after all. "I hope you all brought recipes with you this morning. I brought copies of the brownie recipe in case any of you forgot."

She points out the plate of brownies in front of her. "I even made some for you."

"I'll be here if you need help with anything or if you have questions," Piper continues. She looks at all of them. "Thanks for making my first workshop somewhat successful...and for not burning the classroom down."

She couldn't help adding that last part.

"What?" Jude chuckled. "Oh, no, bra, nothin' like that. Not enough chocolate to really cover the taste."

Maia giggled. "Can I try one when you finish them?"

"Of course! But ya have t' let them set for a while first, because the super secret ingredient causes them to be soft and chewie for weeks, but don't taste that great right out of the oven."

Maia tilted her head very curious now. "Chewing gum?" She guessed as she started to add chocolate chips and chocolate syrup to her brownie mixture to make it more along the lines of a triple chocolate treat.

"Nuh-uh, waaaaay off," Jude chuckled as he began mixing his dry ingredients together, carefully keeping the boxes (http://www.homegrocer.com/images/products/jello-vanilla-pudding.jpg) out of sight.

Maia giggled and started to pour out her mixture into the pan. "You know, if I wanted to, I could just use my cat like reflexes to jump around you and see what the big secret is." She said playfully.

"And I could totally block you with all the ninja that's rubbing off from dating one," Jude shot back with a grin, making a vaguely threatning gesture with a full cup of brown sugar, which he then amost dropped but managed to recover in time.

Maia leaned against the counter laughing. "Ah but I have super ninja sight, I'll see you going to block me and I will counter block you. Knock you over and then the ingredient will be mine." She playfully bowed at him.

Jude appeared to be building a little tower of compacted brown sugar in his bowl. He struck a pose with the now-empty measuring cup and moved his lips in an exaggerated bad-dubbing effect. "Ah so! You seek to challenge the master for the secrets of the ancient baking school of Jude. Be prepared, for surely you shall die in the attempt!"

Maia nearly sank to the floor laughing and then she caught her breath. "I walk on rice paper leaving no mark, surely I am worthy of such a challenge." She said in a tone of imitation of the old Kung-Phu television show.

((yes I know it's spelled Kung-Fu. just doing that in case we have a grasshopper come join at FH ;) ))

An egg in each hand, Jude waxed on and waxed off with the signature 'Hwaaaaaaaah' of all bad kung-fu movies before cracking them in the bowl one-handed, melting his little sugar city. "Then bring it, young grasshoppa!"

Maia made a huge show of moving her hands in a defensive block motion before picking up her pan of brownies to put into the oven. "Oh it's already be broughin'" She said losing the kung-fu voice and taking on a ghetto girl one. "Hwaaaaaaahhhhh" She said slowly as she moved to circle Jude slowly. She had a smile on her face but her eyes were steadily on him anticipating his next move.

Jude also circled her, waving his arms in what was supposed to be a parody of the same defensive moves. With another "Hwah!" he suddenly darted forward and swiped a finger through her batter.

"Mmmm, brownies . . ."

Maia jumped as he did it and hit the counter where his ingredients were, her back to the secret one. "You fell for defensive tactic numbah one, know your enemy's weakness." She said opening her mouth with a silent laugh before dubbing one in.

Jude's reaction was overacted to a Shatnerian degree. "No! The source of my power!" Waggle of the lips to indicate that the original Japanese phrase had been much longer.

Maia started cracking up before turning to face his ingredients. "Oh my God." She breathed still using the Kung-Phu voice. "You've harnessed the power of the jello vanilla. You have surpassed me in all things. Teach me great one."

"The way of the pudding is long and difficult, young one. Do you have the courage to follow it to its squishy and vanilla-flavoured end?" Jude somehow managed to keep a completely straight face during this little speech.

"If you feel I have learned all I can then I will take the steps to lead me down my next path of the jello." She said, her head humbly bowed.

"Then come, see the mysteries of the pudding." He ripped open the packages and poured them in a with a flourish. "For the pudding becomes one with the cookie dough, cooking before it, and setting so that cookies take on the mystic squishieness of the pudding."

"Can one eat the cookies hot or the dough raw master?" Maia said peering into the bowl.

Jude held up a finger. "One may. But it tastes kinda funky."

Maia contemplated it, "I feel I must to experience all there is to know of the way of the jello." She said as she grabbed a spoon and got a mouth full of dough and pudding. Taking a bite she made a face. "It's-" Maia swallowed it down. "It's funky." She said nodding in agreement.

Jude chuckled, breaking character. "Told ya so, bra." He went for the chocolate chips.

Maia laughed. "I can't wait to try them when they cool down thought. I'll let you have a brownie if you want."

Jude grinned. "Awesome!" He added a few more chocolate chips for good measure.
