Baking Workshop 7/3, Monday Morning

Piper smiles at the students as they arrive, but this time, it might be a sad smile. This is the last time they'd be in her workshop after all. "I hope you all brought recipes with you this morning. I brought copies of the brownie recipe in case any of you forgot."

She points out the plate of brownies in front of her. "I even made some for you."

"I'll be here if you need help with anything or if you have questions," Piper continues. She looks at all of them. "Thanks for making my first workshop somewhat successful...and for not burning the classroom down."

She couldn't help adding that last part.

"Apparently Cedric Diggory's just as bad," Anders told her. "Put the four of us together and we'd level the school . . . though you've got the hang of that egg separating, looks like. I can't do that. I always manage to pop the yolks, and it sucks."

"Is he?" Sam started laughing, almost dropping the egg on the counter. "We should keep that in mind once we get invaded. And Jude taught me how on Saturday. He's like an egg ninja or something."

Anders blinked. "There are egg ninjas? Are there cheese pirates too?"

"...Maybe?"

"That would explain why the Monterey Jack I stash in the common room fridge keeps disappearing, I guess."

Sam giggled. "Or it could be that you should invest in a mini-fridge."

"I have one," Anders said. "It's in my room. That I haven't really been in, except to feed the goldfish, in like over a week now."

Sam winced. Oops. "Sorry about that. Didn't mean to bring it up. Have you tried writing your name on the cheese?"

"Yeah, but I don't know if cheese pirates can read. Or really care."

"I...have no idea." Sam still wasn't convinced cheese pirates existed. "They probably have trouble keeping their boat afloat."

"Or I'm probably just crazy," Anders concluded.

"Maybe someone just really likes cheese?"

"Not that I'd blame 'em. Cheese is great stuff. I even get to use some today, but it's that weird crumbly feta stuff."

"Weird crumbly...what are you making?"

"Frittata. Something called a Greek scramble? It was Willow's idea, but I probably should've picked the recipe more carefully."

"Willow seems to know what she's doing," Sam said, glancing over at her. "I'm sure she wouldn't give you something you couldn't handle."

"My cooking study buddy has faith in my abilities, apparently." Anders grinned. "It's kinda a nice feeling."

"Isn't it?" Sam dumped the chocolate chips into a bowl, and placed the bowl on the heat. "Anakin actually ate something I cooked yesterday and didn't have to go to the clinic. It was good."

Anders crossed his arms over his chest and chuckled. "Aw, Carter, c'mon. You're not that bad."

"The CDC got called the year I made Thanksgiving," she confided. "Er, the Centers for Disease Control. The Anthrax people."

"Oh. I think you mentioned that once, yeah," Anders said awkwardly. "Still, that was just a fluke, right?"

"If that's what you want to call it," she snorted, amused now that no one was in an oxygen tent.

"In the interest of keeping morale up, yes," Anders insisted. "At least until this workshop is over with."

"I can't believe this is the last week," Sam said. "And, strangely, I think I am a little better, which makes Piper kind of a miracle worker, you know?"

Anders nodded. "Yeah, I mean, we've only set things on fire once?"
