Scoobying Workshop #2, Afternoon 5/30/2006 (Main Campfire)

There are drinks set out on a folding table near the unlit campfire, and a couple of baskets filled with apples, oranges, and bananas, because sometimes you have to balance out all the doughnuts/twinkies/s'mores, after all. There's also a cardboard box at each end of the table, as yet unopened. Xander is standing in front of the table handing out cups.

"You'll probably each want something to drink, because I'm gonna make you talk, and some of you might be the type to get dry throats when you do this kind of talking.

Last week we looked at one specific job someone might have on a team; this time, we'll go with a skill that can be useful for anybody when you're trying to support your fellow Scooby-types -- or your flashy superpowered leader, if you have one. I figure we'll probably switch back and forth between those two things each week for most of the workshop, and look at putting them together towards the end.

So what skill comes in really handy when you're trying to investigate a crime, stop the bad guys, rescue the princess or otherwise save the day for goodness, justice, puppies, and truth?

The ability to lie your ass off.

I know that sounds kind of contradicty, like 'jumbo shrimp' or 'bad pie,' and some of you guys may not be down with bending the truth until it squeaks, but the fact is that sometimes you' might have to, at least for a while. You may need to cover for your friend with the secret identity, or your entire group that just cut class to go slay vampires dragons, or yourself, if you're in the wrong place at the wrong time. And hey, maybe you'll get lucky enough not to need it -- but it's a skill you should have, just in case."

Shiro pulled at the cap covering his ears. Two truths and a lie? Somehow that seemed easier then it actually was:

"1-I know the king of Hell personally
2-I get along fantasticlly with my roommate
3-I'm a demon"

Nadia blinked. "Um, one?" she guessed, since she didn't know who his roommate was, and the demon thing seemed entirely possible. "I bet you only know his middle management people."

"uh uh" Shiro shook his head. Then he frowned, "Why is it so impossible to know the king of Hell? He's actually an alright kinda guy. When he's not killing people, I guess."

Shiro frowned. He hadn't thought about how similar his statements had been. Maybe he needed to get Hell of the brain. He nodded at her, "yeah." he muttered.

"Hell has a king?" Blair frowned. "Couldn't the person in charge of hell come up with a better title?"

"I think two is the lie."

"uhh.." Shiro's tail flicked against his leg, "you know thats a good question." He nodded, "yeah, you're right, two's the lie...."

"Maybe you should bring it up to him." Blair nodded. "See if you can get him to go with something more dark and evil-y. Like the High Poobah of Darkness or the Spectar of Sinister or..." Blair bounced for a moment. "Oooh! Maybe something republican-esque. That would be very evil."

Shiro thought back to living with Chiaki, Ororon, the old bag and his brother. He grimaced.

"No." He admitted, "I don't think so."

They all seemed like lies to Draco. So he just straight up guessed. "One? I never knew there was a king of hell."

This question was starting to get old.

"Yes." He growled before turning towards her, "hell has a king! His name is Ororon and-" he stopped once he finally set eyes on her.

There was just something about blonds.....

"Two," Bridge says. "Because there's demons here, so it's entirely plausible that you're one. And if you're a demon, it's also reasonable that you might now the king of the Underworld."

Shiro nodded, "you'd be right." He was a little miffed that his statements had been so obvious. Hey, demon he may be, but he never proffessed lying to be his specialty. It was something he obviously had to work on.
