There are drinks set out on a folding table near the unlit campfire, and a couple of baskets filled with apples, oranges, and bananas, because sometimes you have to balance out all the doughnuts/twinkies/s'mores, after all. There's also a cardboard box at each end of the table, as yet unopened. Xander is standing in front of the table handing out cups.

"You'll probably each want something to drink, because I'm gonna make you talk, and some of you might be the type to get dry throats when you do this kind of talking.

Last week we looked at one specific job someone might have on a team; this time, we'll go with a skill that can be useful for anybody when you're trying to support your fellow Scooby-types -- or your flashy superpowered leader, if you have one. I figure we'll probably switch back and forth between those two things each week for most of the workshop, and look at putting them together towards the end.

So what skill comes in really handy when you're trying to investigate a crime, stop the bad guys, rescue the princess or otherwise save the day for goodness, justice, puppies, and truth?

The ability to lie your ass off.

I know that sounds kind of contradicty, like 'jumbo shrimp' or 'bad pie,' and some of you guys may not be down with bending the truth until it squeaks, but the fact is that sometimes you' might have to, at least for a while. You may need to cover for your friend with the secret identity, or your entire group that just cut class to go slay ~~vampires~~ dragons, or yourself, if you're in the wrong place at the wrong time. And hey, maybe you'll get lucky enough not to need it -- but it's a skill you should have, just in case."

So here's the game, which I completely cop to lifting...uh I mean, didn't remotely steal, from our esteemed and crazy ex-dean and journalism professor Spider Jerusalem. He was trying to teach us how to spot other people telling whoppers, though, and I want you guys to work on being good liars.

Everybody go around the circle, introduce yourself, and tell us two true things and one convincing lie. To make it more fun and let people get to know each other better, though, they should all be about something you did during the week since the last workshop.

(If you weren't here for the last workshop, or happened to be stuck in a ~~Pokeball~~ locker somewhere for the last few weeks, feel free to reach back a little further and make them about stuff you did since you got to Fandom Island, or even before that.)

Once people have done that, get up, mingle and go around trying to guess which of each person's statements is the lie. Give your reasoning, so the liar can get some feedback on how to make them more believable if you guessed right, or what they're doing right if you guessed wrong. Try not to ~~read the answers~~ eavesdrop on each other's guesses before you made your own, though.

Let people know if they guessed right or wrong, and carry on the discussions for as long as you like.]

Talk, pass notes, skywrite, whatever, about stuff not directly related to the telling of naughty untruths. Unless you feel like being naughty with each other. But not like that. Any of that and I'll at least ask you to leave and go find yourselves a shack someplace.

Count up how many people guessed correctly. ~~Or fudge it if you're tired of waiting around for enough people to sign in to make the count.~~ There's sixteen people in this workshop ~~in theory~~ so if it's eight or less, you're doing a pretty good job for a beginner; grab yourself a t-shirt from the box to the left of the table. If it's more than eight, you probably need some more practice, so while you're working on that, grab a t-shirt from the box to the right of the table to help you lull people into a false sense of security.

If there was one thing Nadia was skilled at, it was lying. "Let's see,
1. On Saturday I met a talking moose and a talking squirrel in the woods.
2. On Sunday, I had a delicious brunch at Luke's.
3. And Yesterday, I did absolutely nothing very interesting at all."

"I'm Nadia Santos. Say anything remotely insulting to me and I'll beat your head in with a mallet."

Jamie thinks carefully before revealing his statements.

1. I'm the result of genetic tinkering of a mad scientist from an alternate reality.
2. I grew up in Kansas on a farm.
3. I totally made out with Nadia's boyfriend this morning in the First Aid workshop.

"Three," Jamie says immediately. "Because the talking moose and squirrel thing can totally happen in FH."

"Wrong! Well, not about the moose and squirrel, because that was true. I didn't get any food at brunch on Sunday.'

"Three had better be the lie."

Shiro smirked patting the ball in his pocket.

"James."

"And if it wasn't?" Jamie asked. "Though technically our lips did touch but he was giving me the breath of life and I was unconscious and thinking about Germany."

"I'll have to remember to pick up some mouthwash for him." Nadia tilted her head. "And you think of Germany when you're unconscious?"

Shiro pulled at the cap covering his ears. Two truths and a lie? Somehow that seemed easier then it actually was:

"1-I know the king of Hell personally
2-I get along fantasticlly with my roommate
3-I'm a demon"

"He told me to lie back and think of England," Jamie explained. "I found thinking of Germany to be less exciting."

"Two" Shiro nodded decisively.
