Arts & Crafts Workshop #4, Camp Dining Hall, 06.12.06, Afternoon

[OOC: Posted early because I love. And didn't fall asleep while writing. GO ME! Workshop Info Post!

Oh, and for my own sanity, Tick will now only have regular office hours on Tuesday and Thursday. Feel free to make an appointment via voicemail for other days or contact me OOCly.]

When everyone was seated, The Tick smiled. "Welcome, campers! Remember, this week is the Student Art Fair! Each of you will be submitting something to it, be it one of your projects for this workshop or something you've done in your free time. In addition to that, you'll be making something for the entrance to the fair."

"Each of you will be making a bouquet of paper flowers. On the front table here, we have a wide selection of tissue paper for you to use, paper clips, wire, garden stakes, and vases hand made by me to put them in! You also have instructions at your tables, but it's easy enough." Tick took a blue piece of tissue paper to demonstrate. "You just fold like so, then clip like so, attach the wire for a slight stem like so, pull and scrunch and fluff like so, and wrap the wire around the garden stake and viola! You have a paper flower! You'll be making a bunch of these."

"And for your scrapbooks, I went ahead and got your pictures developed at the Kwik Stop. Take your pictures and work them in! Scissors and glue are at your tables."

Jaye puts her flowers together, really really quietly. She may even be unthinkingly trying to clamp her mouth shut. At this rate, she's going to have a bouquet in five minutes.

Jaye probably should have more pictures, but she was a little focused last week, what with the coffee and rain of pudding and stuff. But really, it means she has an awesome picture of a very caffeinated duck.

Jaye's still trying not to talk, so she displays her bouquet full of very pretty if hastily-made flowers in a very blue vase. If she gets to take this home afterwards, it's so going to mess with her decor.

She might keep indicating the vase like she's one of those prize girls on a game show.

Now, this was something Sakurazaki could do. "Ojou-sama and I used to make paper flowers all the time when we were little," she says happily, almost girlishly, after she settles back down and starts her work.

Re: Display Your Projects [WS4]

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-06-12 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
The whole activity reminded Sakurazaki of childhood, so she's got tons and tons of bright flowers in hers, all of Ojou-sama's favourite colours, even white, although she can't stand white. Lots of pink to represent sakura. They seem pretty expertly made...save for the first few. Once she started up again, though, it was like second nature. She puts them in a tall, curvy vase.

"Tick-sensei?" Sakurazaki bows as she approaches. "Do you still have the negatives for our pictures? I promised a few people I'd give them copies."

Re: Scrapbooking! [WS4]

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-06-12 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh, the pictures! She's got a lot of inserting to do.

For the most part, putting them into her scrapbook was a lot of fun, remembering catching Tim (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/884754.html?thread=34849554#t34849554) at the diner, Anakin (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhighdorms/635379.html?thread=38843891#t38843891) and his little glowy magic thing (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhighdorms/635379.html?thread=38789619#t38789619), and post-canoe-tip Isabel. (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhighdorms/635379.html?thread=38783219#t38783219). Cuddles (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhighdorms/635379.html?thread=38810099#t38810099) was, of course, adorable, and Alphonse (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhighdorms/635379.html?thread=38819827#t38819827) had some pretty good shots (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhighdorms/635379.html?thread=38806515#t38806515) in there, too.

All the scenery shots turned out very well, too.

Oh, and then the pictures of Jude (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhighdorms/635379.html?thread=38814451#t38814451). There's no way she can't flip through those and paste them in without a small, slightly dopey smile on her face and a pretty prominant flush in her cheeks. Especially that last one (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhighdorms/635379.html?thread=38883571#t38883571). That one goes in later....Ahem.

Then she gets to Ranma's pictures, and she bites her lips as she shifts through them. The one of him blushing (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhighdorms/635379.html?thread=38795251#t38795251) is actually pretty cute, but, in retrospect, it makes her feel really sad. Then there's the one he took of her (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhighdorms/635379.html?thread=38798067#t38798067), her eyes wide and surprised and her cheeks very, very red. She wasn't blushing when that happened was she? Sakurazaki frowns. That one might not be going in. Two more (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhighdorms/635379.html?thread=38804467#t38804467), one just regular and the other in a fighting pose, and, despite herself, the fighting pose makes her grin as she pastes it down. And then, finally, the one of them together (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhighdorms/635379.html?thread=38817267#t38817267)...It makes Sakurazaki grow really quiet as she looks at it, a very strange lump in her throat. That one's going in later, too.

Finished with most of the pictures, Sakurazaki ends Arts and Crafts in a much more somber mood than how she started it.

Tempe attempted to make a bunch of paper flowers, but only 5 of them turned out looking anything like flowers. Still, it's an accomplishment.

She was looking a little distracted, really.

Re: Scrapbooking! [WS4]

[identity profile] fatalvoyage.livejournal.com 2006-06-12 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Tempe took the pictures she'd taken during last week's workshop of various locations around the school and town, and pasted them in on the pages on which she had already earmarked places for them.

She also took the pictures of Sam, Janet, Elizabeth, Bridge, Sawyer, Peter (the really nice English one who had enjoyed her cookies), Tyler, and Paige that she'd *handwavily* taken with the disposable camera later in the week, and put them in as well.

Also, she put in a picture of some of the weetiny kitties, including Goldilocks and Silver Fox (http://www.myrtlebeachpets.com/images/gray-and-blonde.jpg), and her new little fluffball.

She surrounded the picture of her new kitten with glitter. It seemed appropriate, after all.

[OOC: Pictures of the people listed above are handwaved with permission.]

[identity profile] fatalvoyage.livejournal.com 2006-06-12 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Tempe's bouquet consisted of 5 very flowery-looking flowers, and 4 that looked nothing like flowers, but gave an appealing contrasty sort of look to her project. The flowers are very colourful. So are the non-flowers.

And the really pretty blue vase that Tempe had picked to put her flowers in? Made the flowers look even better.

"I'm feeling fine but I can't not say things," she says, and clamps her mouth shut again.

Seras slipped in late to Arts and Crafts.

She read the assignment and tried to get to work, but her fight with Walter kept coming back to her. Just when she'd think she was getting it, her hands would shake, and the tissue would rip.

A pile of ruined flowers slowly built up at her feet.

Kaylee started working on her flowers happily. Not all of them were perfect, but most turned out okay.

Re: Scrapbooking! [WS4]

[identity profile] enginegirl.livejournal.com 2006-06-12 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Kaylee began adding pictures to her scrapbook. Most were pictures she had handwavily taken while in town. She was most proud of the picture she had taken of Serenity Cove.

Kaylee's flowers weren't perfect, but they at least resembled flowers. Most of them were bright pretty colors that she put in a shiny pink vase.

Luna selected a vase and diligently set to work on her bouquet.

Luna smiled widely as stuck in pictures of Setuna (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/889347.html?thread=43753219#t43753219), Brair (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/885279.html?thread=34877471#t34877471), the mayor (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/884015.html?thread=34839343#t34839343) (well, mostly his eye and part of his nose really), the coffee pond, that guy (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/885279.html?thread=34874655#t34874655) she'd warned about mad-fish disease, Mr. Wonka's shop and a few other places and people she'd seen while out with the camera.

Luna's vase was filled with extremely bright flowers, all of which were larger than the average person's head.

A few weren't swaying in a fake breeze, and that one at left center was absolutely not occasionally humming a tuneless melody. Really. It's just your imagination.

Bridge... sadly does not have any pictures on account of being a ferret for a week. Woe. He resolves to take some more this week to make up for it.

Re: Display Your Projects [WS4]

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2006-06-12 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Bridge's flowers are... not surprisingly, mostly green. There's the occasional yellow or blue flower mixed in, though, and even one or two pink.

Yay flowers! Sakura likes flowers. And secretly has plans for one or two of these paper ones. Seekritly. Like a ninja. Yeah, right.

Re: Display Your Projects [WS4]

[identity profile] sakuracchyan.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
Sakura's flowers are... in every color of paper that was offered. Simply put, she went batshit with her flower-making. She has a few stray flowers that wouldn't fit into her vase. Whoops.

Re: Scrapbooking! [WS4]

[identity profile] sakuracchyan.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Sakura neglected to get her pictures to Tick. Polaroids for the win! Most of them appear to be candid. Sakura finds candid shots to be more fun than posed ones. One page is left completely blank, despite her having put four photocorners in the shape and size of a polaroid on it. She took care in writing a few squiggly hiragana along the side of the photocorners, and doodled a few simple designs. Only she knew what she planned on placing on that page.

Re: Scrapbooking! [WS4]

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
Sakurazaki suddenly realizes that a picture had fallen to the floor. Whoops! No wonder something felt off. She quickly swoops down and adds Luna (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/889347.html?thread=43753219#t43753219) to her rightful place.

Re: Talk to Tick [WS4]

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-06-13 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
"Uh, thank you, Tink-sensei," Sakurazaki says after taking a moment to process all that. She then grins. "That was a very good way to put it!"
