Baking Workshop 5/22, FH Home Ec Classroom, Monday Morning

Piper smiles at the students as they show up at the home ec classroom after handwave hearing some sort of announcement letting them know to meet here.

"I'm Piper in case some of you might not know," she says somewhat cheerfully, handing each student a syllabus.

She points out the plate of brownies on the counter in front of her. "I made these for you because that is what we will be baking today. Try one if you'd like. I'm told I make the best brownies ever." She smiles proudly. "We will not be making the kind I brought in, though. They have a secret ingredient and, if I told you what it is, I'd have to vanquish you and no one wants that."

Piper grins to let them know she isn't serious about the vanquishing. She hands each student a list of ingredients and instructions. "I'm not going to lecture you because this workshop is supposed to be fun. So we're gonna get started right away. These instructions are, hopefully, easy to follow. If any of you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask."

Sam faced the table full of ingredients and cooking implements and inhaled deeply. She could do this. Really.

Willow waved at her. "Hey, Sam."

"Piper, do you know any recipes for cookies with goat's blood?" Willow asked, in all earnestness. Because she hadn't been sure if maybe Bel was just being polite when he said he didn't need that.

I'm going to end up trying all of these recipes, I can tell. Wench.

"Hey, Willow," Sam waved back, and ignored the eggs, which seemed to be taunting her from their carton. "How's the cabin?"

"Pretty good," Willow said. "We had a slumber party last night. Fun was had. Though turns out one of my cabin-mates is a guy."

"Slumber party, huh? Sounds like a good time." She sighed and decided there was nothing to do for it but attempt to bake. She began assembling the ingredients she needed. "A guy? Yeah, I've got a few of those in my cabin, too. Which one's with you?"

"MacBeth," Willow said. She started flouring her pan. "He seems nice enough, if totally intimidated by how he's rooming with all girls."

But this looks like such a yummy recipe!

"Our guys are not at all intimidated," Sam said, chuckling as she began measuring things out according to the recipe. Ish. There may have been an overabundance of salt, since Sam grabbed the tablespoon instead of the teaspoon. Oops. "In fact, I think they're looking on it as a dating opportunity. Who else is in your cabin with you?"

"I think I disappointed somebody because I didn't have one," Willow explained, as though there was nothing weird about this.

Re: Bake

Willow set about cracking eggs into a bowl. She then set about trying to remove eggshells because she had once again tried to break eggs one-handed, and it turned out she still sucked at doing that.

"Hermione, Marie, and Kaylee on my side," Willow said. "And MacBeth, Lyta, Mac though I don't know if I know that yet and Cordelia."

The last was said in the same tone one would have used to comment on roaches being found in the cabin as well.

It looks so yummy! And, other than the pecans, I've got all the ingredients on hand. Hmmm.

Re: Bake

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2006-05-22 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"Er, what's wrong with Cordelia?" She asked, trying to remember if she'd met her or not as she turned around to preheat the oven to 375.

"She's Cordelia," Willow said, as though this were self-explanatory. Finally successful in her egg shell hunt, she whisked the eggs together. She then added the sugar and vanilla extract, which wasn't exactly how the recipe worded it but she was nothing if not a hacker in all things.

"Bridge has my computer," Willow pouted. "But good idea!"

Ainsley gathered the equipment and ingredients.

She'd seen her Nana do this a million times.

She could do this.

Really.

"Uh...huh," Sam said, trying to figure that out as she floured the pan like she'd seen Willow do earlier. It went relatively well (minus some flour on the counter) and Sam relaxed. Maybe she could cook.
