Baking Workshop 5/22, FH Home Ec Classroom, Monday Morning

Piper smiles at the students as they show up at the home ec classroom after handwave hearing some sort of announcement letting them know to meet here.

"I'm Piper in case some of you might not know," she says somewhat cheerfully, handing each student a syllabus.

She points out the plate of brownies on the counter in front of her. "I made these for you because that is what we will be baking today. Try one if you'd like. I'm told I make the best brownies ever." She smiles proudly. "We will not be making the kind I brought in, though. They have a secret ingredient and, if I told you what it is, I'd have to vanquish you and no one wants that."

Piper grins to let them know she isn't serious about the vanquishing. She hands each student a list of ingredients and instructions. "I'm not going to lecture you because this workshop is supposed to be fun. So we're gonna get started right away. These instructions are, hopefully, easy to follow. If any of you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask."

Maia carried her brownies over. There was an obvious dent in them from her and Jude having a taste. They were possibly a little flatter then they should be and the bottoms of them were caked with flour from an over dusting of Maia's pan.

Maia beamed as she sat them onto the counter in front of Piper. The fact they were edible made Maia feel successful.

Maia beamed happily almost throwing her arms around Piper in excitment at having her first real cooking attempt get a 'Good job' from someone who had the reputation of being such a great cook as Piper had.

"Thank you. Thank you. Do you want to try one?" She said gushing from excitment.

Maia nodded happily. "I will and thank you." She said taking her plate of brownies carefully away, she didn't want to drop them. She headed back to the counter to wrap them in saran wrap and bring them back to the Koala cabin with her to share with Lana, Phoebe and Bel. "I'll see you next class." Maia said with another beaming smile, the perfect bunt cake was in her grasp she just knew it.

Willow brought her brownies over. She hadn't tasted them yet. "Okay, so I think they could be taller? And maybe more chewy than cakelike but they are brown and smell like chocolate so I'm hoping that goes really far on the part where they're supposed to be chocolate brownies. Also I didn't use nuts because I don't want to kill anybody by accident."

Willow still looked fretty. "You don't think... browner? Or - or something? I bet I could do it better if I tried again."

"Good enough for a knight?" Willow asked. "I've got a reputation to maintain."

"Excellent!" Willow wrapped her brownies up for transport. "Thanks, Piper!"

Anders had completely forgotten to flour the pan before pouring in the brownie batter. He'd also put in 1/3 cup of sugar instead of a whole cup, half a teaspoon of salt instead of a quarter teaspoon, and a quarter teaspoon of vanilla instead of half a teaspoon.

Given how completely agitated he'd been after what Sam had told him, it was somewhat miraculous that this was about the worst of it.

"Not really," he said sheepishly, and poked at the pan a little bit. "Least they didn't burn, but they're probably more use as a first base b--"

He clapped a hand over his mouth and turned very, very red.

"I tried. Don't know about my best, though," Anders said once he'd managed to stop hyperventilating. "I was distracted."

And he proceeded to turn very bright red again.
