Piper smiles at the students as they show up at the home ec classroom after ~~handwave~~ hearing some sort of announcement letting them know to meet here.

"I'm Piper in case some of you might not know," she says somewhat cheerfully, handing each student a syllabus.

She points out the plate of brownies on the counter in front of her. "I made these for you because that is what we will be baking today. Try one if you'd like. I'm told I make the best brownies ever." She smiles proudly. "We will not be making the kind I brought in, though. They have a secret ingredient and, if I told you what it is, I'd have to vanquish you and no one wants that."

Piper grins to let them know she isn't serious about the vanquishing. She hands each student a list of ingredients and instructions. "I'm not going to lecture you because this workshop is supposed to be fun. So we're gonna get started right away. These instructions are, hopefully, easy to follow. If any of you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask."

Equipment Needed

Ingredients

6 Tablespoons Cocoa

1/4 cup butter

1 cup sugar

1/2 Teaspoon vanilla

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/3 cup flour

1 cup toasted pecans (optional)

2 eggs

Instructions

Melt 1/4 cups of butter in a microwaveable dish.

Measure 6 tablespoons of Cocoa powder into the mixing bowl.

Add melted butter and mix.

Add to Batter (1 cup sugar, 2 eggs, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1/3 cup flour, 1/4 teaspoon salt).

Mix batter.

Pre-heat oven to 325 degrees.

Flour the Pan (cover pan with butter, then add some flour to keep brownies from sticking)

Pour the brownie batter into the dish.

Put the brownies into the oven for 35-40 minutes.

Let them cool until slightly warm.

Anders had not, as it turned out, listened to the radio broadcast yet. Nor had he checked his voicemail (http://futurebucs-star.livejournal.com/3010.html?thread=1273026#t1273026) today, or he'd at least have a clue.

He headed into his workshop after moving into his cabin with a slightly confused expression on his face (okay, slightly more confused than usual) but absolutely no clue whatsoever about what potential humiliation lay in store for him.

But whoa. Brownies. With more ingredients than he'd ever had to deal with. He could do this. Right?

"Morning, Anders," Sam waved a flour and cocoa-covered hand at Anders and tried not to smirk. "Ready to do battle with the demon brownie?"

"Wait, time out. We have to make demon brownies now?"

"I was exaggerating," Sam said, amused. "I don't know that brownies come in demon. Although I guess they could..."

"Well... this is Fandom. And we do have students of a demon nature..."

"I don't think they're usually inside brownies, though...unless those are the advanced recipes."

"I was thinking brownies made for demons," Pip said. "Like... with concentrated evil. Although demons in brownies could also work if Piper ever gets really angry at Bel."

"They're demon brownies?" asked Anders, wide-eyed.

Hey, around here, you never really knew.

Sam facepalmed, which promptly coated most of her face and some of her hair with flour and cocoa. "No, there are no demons. I don't think. I mean, it's not like we're making snicker..." She remembered the syllabus. "Um, nevermind that second part. I just meant no demons."

"And, um, interesting writing."

Anders instantly crushed the egg he was holding, completely unmindful of the fact that yolk was running all over his shoes.

"What?"

"Anders, there's egg..." She reached over for a paper towel and handed it to him. "Your writing. On the radio last night? That's the writing about baseball you told me you were doing, right?"

Anders couldn't possibly have been any paler. "How the frak did -- on the radio last night? I didn't listen . . ."

"I don't know?" Sam noticed how pale he was. "Anders? Do you want to sit down or a glass of water or something?"

"I kind of want to crawl in a hole and hide," he mumbled. "How did it get on the radio?"

"Uh...it was read out loud?" She patted him awkwardly on the shoulder. "It was pretty decent, really. If that's your kind of thing."

"Read out loud?" Anders groaned. "No way. I can't believe . . . aw, man. That was -- I don't even know why I'm into that stuff lately! It's totally something I could have lived without the whole school knowing. Mars is never gonna leave me alone about the boykissy thing now, is she?"

"Anders, if it isn't hurting anyone, who cares?" Sam shook her head, "and no, she's probably not."

He sighed ruefully. "Great. I just feel bad for Cally, now. If she doesn't kill me, she's gonna be so embarrassed."

"Did she know about it ahead of time?" Sam asked.

"Yeah? She's read some of it," Anders admitted.

"Then why would she be embarrassed?"

"Because I worry that people will think I do this because she's not enough for me any more? Or . . . I don't know, she told me other people might think it was too weird." Anders shrugged. "Okay, she'll probably just tell me I deserved it or something, for going and putting it on the Internet."

"Well...it's true that if you don't want people to see something, you shouldn't put it where it will be seen," Sam said, "but why is the other stuff true? Or why is it anyone else's business?"
