Welcome Party for the Summer Students and Staff

Despite the slightly overcast sky, the weather is still good for welcoming all of the new arrivals for the Fandom High summer session. The graduation decorations (and gremlin debris) have been cleared from the front lawn, and replaced with tables of information packets, food, and drinks. A series of signs point the students to the information table first, where they can pick up their room assignments from the office drones, and then continue on to the food tables to mingle.

And no, there are no inflatable gremlins around today. It's far too early to start scaring the new folks. ~~That's what the mingling section is for!~~

Joxer is being more than slightly self conscious about the arsenal he's carrying, after the nice speech the principal lady gave.

So, he's fidgeting a little. But he'll be laughing if anyone looks his direction. Can't give anyone the impression he's not the best, after all.

Phoebe noticed him fidgetting and smiled.

"Hi there. Welcome to Fandom High."

"Hi," Joxer says, coughing and straightening up to his full height. "Joxer. The Mighty." He smiles. "And you... you must be related to Aphrodite."

Ooh, a flatterer.

Phoebe smiled at him again. "Nice to meet you, Joxer and thank you for such a lovely compliment. I'm Phoebe."

"Well, Phoebe," Joxer rubs his hands together. "Thanks for the welcome. If you ever need a mighty warrior around, just ask." He pulls out his room assignment again. "I'm up in... foooour something somthing."

Phoebe nodded "I'll make sure I do that. If you need anything, my room is in the South Attic."

"South attic, right," Joxer says. "I'll make sure to stop by, make sure no one's trying to... invade your territory. Yeah."

Probably best not to tell the new guy that if anyone tried invading her territory her demon boyfriend would fireball them. Instead Phoebe smiled again and patted his arm.

"You're very nice to be concerned about your fellow students."

"Just concerned with the pretty ones," Joxer says with a nod.

"Duuuuuude," Jude was admiring Joxer's ensemble and wondering how good it was at high-impact crashes.

"Dude?" Joxer looks around for a second. "Are you talking to me? Cause I'm not Dude."

Jude chuckled. "Nah, bro, you're a dude." He pointed at himself. "Dude." At Phoebe. "Dudette. Got it, bro?"

"Ohhhh, guess it's the local slang, huh?" Joxer nods. "I got it. But, my name is Joxer. Joxer the Mighty."

"Jude," Jude introduced himself, adding a few extra vowel by the time he finished. "Jude the Skater." He chuckled and held up his skateboard. "Nice to meetcha, bro."

"Nice to meet you too, uh, bro," Joxer says. Even though Jude totally doesn't remind him of any of his brothers. "Nice little," he points at Jude's skateboard, "miniature cart thing."

"Duuuuuude." Jude slumped. "Aren't there skateboards in the States?" Then again, so far he had spoken with a Brit, a Swede, and an Argentinian.

"States?" Joxer boggles. "I'm from Greece. Are these some sort of city-states or something?"

"Nice hat!"

"Thanks," Joxer says. "It's home made."

"Homemade is the best! Particularly when it comes to food. But I like to make my own clothing also. I'm Pippi and this is Mr. Neilson."

The monkey on her shoulder tipped his hat to Joxter as Pippi held her hand out to him.

"Welcome!"

Joxer takes Pippi's hand and shakes it. "I'm Joxer. Joxer the Mighty. Thanks for welcoming me."

Pippi's handshake is gentle but firm, when the words "the Mighty" come out of his mouth, it gets just a tad more firm.

"Pleased to meet you Joxer the Mighty! I look forward to hearing tales of your heroic exploits!"

"There's not a whole lot of those--" he catches himself. "I mean, of course, yes. I'd love to tell you my tales of... being mighty. Some other time."

"Wonderful!" she finally lets his hand go. "I'm sure there'll be an opportunity to make more while you're here!"

"Really? You get a lot of opportunities for great deeds here?" Joxer looks a little eager. "Cause I could really use a chance to make sure everyone knows the name of Joxer the Mighty."
