Welcome Party for the Summer Students and Staff

Despite the slightly overcast sky, the weather is still good for welcoming all of the new arrivals for the Fandom High summer session. The graduation decorations (and gremlin debris) have been cleared from the front lawn, and replaced with tables of information packets, food, and drinks. A series of signs point the students to the information table first, where they can pick up their room assignments from the office drones, and then continue on to the food tables to mingle.

And no, there are no inflatable gremlins around today. It's far too early to start scaring the new folks. That's what the mingling section is for!

"Jude," Jude introduced himself, adding a few extra vowel by the time he finished. "Jude the Skater." He chuckled and held up his skateboard. "Nice to meetcha, bro."

"Nice to meet you too, uh, bro," Joxer says. Even though Jude totally doesn't remind him of any of his brothers. "Nice little," he points at Jude's skateboard, "miniature cart thing."

"Duuuuuude." Jude slumped. "Aren't there skateboards in the States?" Then again, so far he had spoken with a Brit, a Swede, and an Argentinian.

"From Canadia, right? That's up near Thrace, isn't it?" Joxer rarely misses a beat. Sometimes he just starts a completely different tune.

"Nah, bro," Jude said, shaking his head and completely unperturbed. Very little could harsh this boy's mellow. "Canada. North of here. Second largest country in the world. That one."

Jude had spotted food. The board dropped to the ground and he was on it, heading in the opposite direction. "Dude. Food. Catch ya later." He sped up, zooming around the knots of chattering people.
