Fandom High Graduation Ceremony Class of 2006 - Monday night

[OOC: This post is open for slow-play. Take your time and please remember that this is all about the seniors!]

As the sun disappeared below the horizon on Monday evening, large, bright lights came on, illuminating the front lawn of Fandom High. There was a stage area with several chairs for the administration and special guests, as well as a podium and microphone. On the grass in front of the stage are rows and rows of chairs for parents, guardians, siblings and friends of the graduating seniors, as well as enough chairs for any faculty, townies and students who decide to attend. There is an aisle free down the middle and reserved seats in the front row for the graduating seniors.

All in all, the place looks fantastic decked out in blue and gold thanks to the efforts of the freshmen on the graduation committee.

Oh yes. Then there's the inflatable gremlin filled with helium off to the side that's the size of the building. It looks kind of cute, actually, just floating there while tied to the ground.

Angel? Will not stop fiddling with his gown. This is what happens when you put him in polyester.

"Stop it," Callisto surreptitiously jabbed an elbow at his side. "You're making us look bad."

"It itches," Angel pouted.

"The sooner we get this over with, the sooner we can lose the robes," Callisto said. "But everyone will notice if you keep fidgeting."

Angel heaved a giant, put-upon sigh. "Blue's not even my color."

Lindsey could think of any number of people he'd rather be walking next to right now than Veronica. Sadly, he had no options.

Veronica was smiling brightly as she walked next to Lindsey.

But on the inside? She was furious about what he had done to Piper.

"You're lucky there are so many witnesses here," she hissed through her teeth.

Lindsey tried not to wince at Veronica's words.

"Not the time, Veronica," he muttered. "Really not the time."

"No, the time would have been weeks ago when you found out, not the night before graduation, Lindsey. Do you remember what I told you the first time we met?"

Veronica was still smiling brightly. Her lips were barely moving.

Lindsey gulped. Discreetly, of course.

"Maybe you didn't notice but things have been a little crazy the past couple weeks?" Lindsey was trying very hard to keep the smile on his face.

V might have heard a loud "WOOT!" coming from the audience when she walked by a certain someone.

Veronica might have stopped glaring/snarking at Lindsey long enough to flash a smile and wink in that certain someone's direction.

Of all the people Piper ends up walking with, it has to be Logan Echolls. Figures.

"Hey!" Logan said, giving Piper a grin.

Piper smiled back and it might actually have been genuine. "Hey Logan."

"You look nervous," Logan said, leaning in. He smelled strongly of tequila. "Need a shot of courage?" He patted a spot under his robes.

Ivanova grinned at Xander, somehow managing to not look dorky in her cap and count, before craning her neck to see if she could see G'Kar.

How he even knew what a graduation was, let alone when hers was, was a mystery to her.

Xander, on the other hand, does not manage not to look dorky in his cap and gown. Not that Xander manages not to look dorky in anything. But dude. Board. On his head.

He may also be blinded by the flash from all the pictures being taken of him in his cap and gown.

What? Milestone, here.

[[Cap and gown, even. Gah. Fingers not behaving.]]

Blink blink. Ow, flash. But when the spot finally cleared, she had located G'Kar. Now to make sure he stayed put. She kinda wished that she had set Maia on guard duty.

Chloe's certainly not upset about getting to walk with Anakin. Besides, she has much more pressing matters to be concerned about, like making sure her cap stays on. Stupid slippery material.

"I've worn a lot of stupid hats," Anakin muttered, "but this one has got to be the stupidest."

He tried to yank at his braid and only succeed in yanking at his tassel, knocking the hat askew. Only a metric ton of bobby pins, thoughtfully provided by Rory, stopped the hat from sliding clear off his head.

"Here, let me help with that," Chloe said, moving to stand in front of Anakin. She tugged at the hat to get it back on straight, trying not to mess with the bobby pins in the process. "We just have to make it to the end of the ceremony, and then we can take them off."

Anakin leaned down a little to make it easier for Chloe. "I look like a tool, don't I?" he asked.
