There were only two piles in front of Anakin, both in glaring shades of red, white and blue, and more disturbingly, matching piles of wigs.

"Welcome to Fandom Gladiator," Anakin said. "Early thanks to Rosa for already procuring all of the event equipment. Today you will be divided into two teams--Gold and Blue--to fight for the glory of the island."

Or something.

"Since the costumes are more elaborate--" that was one was of looking at it, "--I have also added changing areas, and mirrors to adjust your wigs."

No amount of adjustment would make these work, gang. Just look at Beaker. It was a looooost cause.

"Have fun, don't get hurt! Powers are allowed."

Which might negate the "don't get hurt" clause slightly.

The Joust has you each armed with a pugil stick and up on a platform 8 feet in the air--but don't worry, there's a big puffy crash pad underneath you. The object is to knock the other person off of their pedestal. Annnnnnnnnnd....go!

Graham and Clare against Jon and Libby!

You each get into your hamster balls. Graham and Clare are trying to hit the sensors and score points. Jon and Libby are trying to block their opponents from rolling over the sensors. You have 60 seconds!

Um. Human and Eagle Cannonball! Sam and Vi, you're up!

For the first round, Vi is waiting on a pedestal with a foam shield. Sam has three attempts to knock her off the platform via swinging on a rope and aiming at her! Then we reverse! Surely this will go well!

Two on two for added mayhem! Gray and Steve R are going against Rosa and Arthur. There are 54 rings hanging in midair. The goal is to get to the other side without falling off or one of the other team members pulling you down! Gray, please don't fall asleep here.

Who doesn't love being covered in Velcro and racing upside down? ~~This might be the most normal thing Beaker's ever done, let's be honest~~ Beaker and Eleanor face off against each other in a running-ish race!

And the final round: demolition derby without the cars! Amaya and Alara are up against Rey and Guillermo. Try to score as many points by putting your teams' colored balls in the hoops while avoiding being tripped (no tackling, please) by the other team! You have 60 seconds!

His hair looks normal today compared to the rest of you and he's savoring it.

"Oh. My. Sweet Mother Mary in Heaven," Clare said, holding up the outfit? Part of an outfit? "Where's the rest of it?!"

"Half the guys in my high school had this hair," Steve said, trying in vain to keep it out of his eyes. "They couldn't pull it off either."

"Epic," Steve said, grinning over at Raiden. "This is going to be so much fun."

"I am not a hamster."

This was going well.

It wasn't that Steve was discounting Arthur's potential prowess in this event, it was more that he'd been in class with Rosa and knew how good she was going to be. So that was Steve, swinging towards her in an attempt to give Gray some room to run.

Jon eyed the outfits and wigs.

"No."

Stark was very suspicious of the fact his name hadn't been called.

So suspicious.

What was Anakin plotting?

"Nor am I." For once, Jon's lack of coordination seemed to be working for him, though. All he had to do was try to move in any direction and he ended up hitting someone.

It was a good thing he healed fast, though, because he was going to be one big bruise.

It turned out that when flipped upside down, Beaker's epic wig was riiiiight in his googly, googly eyes.

"Meep meep meep."

"Aw," Raiden said, "I was hoping for a new shirt, but this is fun, too. Hey, Smalls! Come get your onesie!"

"It's a unitard," Gray corrected from where he was very seriously considering his wig choices.

Anakin gave him a not-at-all reassuring wave.

"You're not going to want loose bits hanging for any of these events," Anakin said.

"Grand," Clare said, blinking slowly and then grabbing both outfits. She'd combine them in the changing area.
