There were only two piles in front of Anakin, both in glaring shades of red, white and blue, and more disturbingly, matching piles of wigs.

"Welcome to Fandom Gladiator," Anakin said. "Early thanks to Rosa for already procuring all of the event equipment. Today you will be divided into two teams--Gold and Blue--to fight for the glory of the island."

Or something.

"Since the costumes are more elaborate--" that was one was of looking at it, "--I have also added changing areas, and mirrors to adjust your wigs."

No amount of adjustment would make these work, gang. Just look at Beaker. It was a looooost cause.

"Have fun, don't get hurt! Powers are allowed."

Which might negate the "don't get hurt" clause slightly.

"Listen for your names!"

"Oh. My. Sweet Mother Mary in Heaven," Clare said, holding up the outfit? Part of an outfit? "Where's the rest of it?!"

"You're not going to want loose bits hanging for any of these events," Anakin said.

"Grand," Clare said, blinking slowly and then grabbing both outfits. She'd combine them in the changing area.

"Half the guys in my high school had this hair," Steve said, trying in vain to keep it out of his eyes. "They couldn't pull it off either."

Jon eyed the outfits and wigs.

"No."

"Aw," Raiden said, "I was hoping for a new shirt, but this is fun, too. Hey, Smalls! Come get your onesie!"

"It's a unitard," Gray corrected from where he was very seriously considering his wig choices.

First radio, and now...whatever this was? Oh, the glare Amaya was sending across the part toward Rosa was enough to start a Canadian wildfire right now.

Glare all you want, Blackstone. Rosa was looking good in this get-up.

She could maybe do without the wig, but, hey, she'd had worse done to her hair before.

She had at least one very enthusiastic fan! Miguel whistled at her to show off his lack of self-preservation.

Was it a lack of self-preservation, Miguel? Or just a broadcast of your clearly excellent taste in this matter?

Rosa smirked, lifting her chin for a moment of preening before shouting back, "Don't worry, Tightpants, you can try it on later when I'm finished kicking ass!"

Honestly, it was better than the men's version. Miguel grinned and gave her a thumbs up. "You're never finished kicking ass!"

Yeah, no, Libby would not be sending pictures of the 'shirts' to Zo this week, and, in fact, she was looking at hers and seriously considering trying to actually pull the religion card, because running around in this was absolutely against hers.

"Zouuuuunds!" said Graham, striding out of the changing room and striking a pose with his fists on his hips, his head held high, and his cloak blowing artfullly around his shoulders over the singlet. "These are great!"

He felt so powerful and masculine! And if he felt it enough, that meant he tooootally looked it, too??

How dare you, Anakin. How dare you. Did you see Rey's giant frown as she picked through wigs?

Anakin gave her a grin and a wave. He was the worst.

Bikinis had started becoming all the rage among girls back home in Eleanor's time, so while she felt it was a little out of place in a community event, she didn't think too much of it. A little awkward and self-conscious, but if everyone else was in one, too, then it wasn't so bad, and her reaction to having to suit up was just about dead center of the range of reactions there could have been.

The wig, however, was a bit more confusing for her.

It's a bathing costume, Arthur. And a really awful wig.

Arthur sighed. "I suppose there's no chance of keeping my dignity, is there?"

None at all.

Hey, they'd had worse.

It was deeply unfair that the suit that provided more overall coverage had barely any where it mattered most. So, much like Clare, Vi would be wearing a combination of both.

"Sir! This is unseemly!"

Sam was not amused as he struggled to get into his costume and wig. Not amused in the least!
