There were only two piles in front of Anakin, both in glaring shades of red, white and blue, and more disturbingly, matching piles of wigs.

"Welcome to Fandom Gladiator," Anakin said. "Early thanks to Rosa for already procuring all of the event equipment. Today you will be divided into two teams--Gold and Blue--to fight for the glory of the island."

Or something.

"Since the costumes are more elaborate--" that was one was of looking at it, "--I have also added changing areas, and mirrors to adjust your wigs."

No amount of adjustment would make these work, gang. Just look at Beaker. It was a looooost cause.

"Have fun, don't get hurt! Powers are allowed."

Which might negate the "don't get hurt" clause slightly.

The Joust has you each armed with a pugil stick and up on a platform 8 feet in the air--but don't worry, there's a big puffy crash pad underneath you. The object is to knock the other person off of their pedestal. Annnnnnnnnnd....go!

This felt like fancy sparring, and to say that Raiden had complicated feelings about sparring would be to oversell it--he didn't do 'complicated' anything except cookery. It was something he did because it was necessary, not because he thought it was any fun. Steve was having fun, though, so he said, "Yeah, let's go, buddy!" and decided to make some brownies after this.

Ooh, maybe with peanut butter in them.

Raiden was mostly thinking about the brownies, tbh. And about not using too much of his Nephilim strength for Steve's human self as he experimentally swung the cushioned end of the stick at him.

Oh, maybe he could chop up some Reese's cups? Or Reese's Pieces. Ooh, or both!

You each get into your hamster balls. Graham and Clare are trying to hit the sensors and score points. Jon and Libby are trying to block their opponents from rolling over the sensors. You have 60 seconds!

"Nor am I." For once, Jon's lack of coordination seemed to be working for him, though. All he had to do was try to move in any direction and he ended up hitting someone.

It was a good thing he healed fast, though, because he was going to be one big bruise.

Round Three: Human Cannonball!

Um. Human and Eagle Cannonball! Sam and Vi, you're up!

For the first round, Vi is waiting on a pedestal with a foam shield. Sam has three attempts to knock her off the platform via swinging on a rope and aiming at her! Then we reverse! Surely this will go well!

Round Four: Hang Tough!

Two on two for added mayhem! Gray and Steve R are going against Rosa and Arthur. There are 54 rings hanging in midair. The goal is to get to the other side without falling off or one of the other team members pulling you down! Gray, please don't fall asleep here.

It wasn't that Steve was discounting Arthur's potential prowess in this event, it was more that he'd been in class with Rosa and knew how good she was going to be. So that was Steve, swinging towards her in an attempt to give Gray some room to run.

Gray didn't look like he had much in the way of upper body strength, but he was deceptively strong even before you added the supernatural powers into consideration. This should be a walk--er, swing--in the park, especially with Steve distracting Rosa.

Unless Arthur turned out to be amazing or Sloth decided to get involved, of course.

Who doesn't love being covered in Velcro and racing upside down? This might be the most normal thing Beaker's ever done, let's be honest Beaker and Eleanor face off against each other in a running-ish race!

It turned out that when flipped upside down, Beaker's epic wig was riiiiight in his googly, googly eyes.

And the final round: demolition derby without the cars! Amaya and Alara are up against Rey and Guillermo. Try to score as many points by putting your teams' colored balls in the hoops while avoiding being tripped (no tackling, please) by the other team! You have 60 seconds!

That didn't mean Rey wasn't going to do her absolute best to win this one because it seemed like a good challenge.
