Shop Class: 4/26

Mac must have been by J,GOB's because there is coffee and muffins galore.

"Morning Class, Today I would like you to design and build a habitat for our favorite holographic dinosaur. Make sure that that the habitat will have the following things:

1. Play Area
2. Sleep Area
3. Bologna Feeding Station"

Mmm, coffee and baked goods. Mac was, truly, the best teacher ever. Nadia grabbed a few muffins and a big cup of thoroughly sugared and creamered coffee and set to work designing a habitat with lots of rock formations and wooden contraptions for playing on and hiding behind, a little cave with a hay nest thing for sleeping, a water hole, and a bologna tree.

Xander was not hiding under a paper bag today, so it was completely possible to see the giant grin at the coffee and pastries yay. Or maybe it was there even before he noticed them.

A dinosaur-sized blueberry muffin in hand -- muffin the size of a dinosaur, that is, though he did grab a wee one for Denver too -- and a coffee cup in the crook of his arm, Xander sat down near the baby hologram. He tilted his head, set the smaller muffin on the floor for Denver if he wanted it, and started trying to figure out if the sea-caves around Sunnydale would make a good play area for a tiny dinosaur. Last he'd heard, the giant snake liked them, after all.

Nadia totally wasn't trying to peer over Xander's shoulder and get ideas from him. She was just stretching out her neck.

Must have slept funny.

"Free muffins were well-timed," Xander said casually, totally not shifting so that she could, if she liked, get a better look at his plans, since he was all about the sharing. "Might grab a few to take with me to the rest of my classes. Just for self-defense from the butterflies, and not remotely because muffins taste good when they're buttery."

He...might have grinned and wiggled the fingers on one hand.

"The kingdom of sitting quietly and staying the hell out of people's way is kinda small and boring, and as the only citizen I ended up paying all the taxes, which sucked," Xander answered with a grin. "Plus the bag gets hot."

Denver wandered over to investigate the habitat and was promptly distracted by the wee muffin.

He began munching, but he wasn't very neat about it.

Xander made note that his habitat needed to include a crumb-collection system.

Also, he introduced Denver to Bridge.

John sets to work designing a habitat. He puts in a little hammock for Denver to sleep in, complete with padding underneath in case he were to fall out, The play area consists of a small slide that falls off into some soft mulch and even a small pond for washing and fun purposes. There's a very, very easy maze and a few trees to climb.

The food area consists of three bowls filled with assorted goodies. The bowls contain covers to keep non food related items out of the food related bowls.

Denver investigated, and nodded his approval, and thought about making John the architect of his future weetiny dinosaur city.

Sam was stumped. She had also begun muttering to herself, "It's a hologram. It doesn't eat, it doesn't breathe, it doesn't live. It doesn't need a habitat."

Denver, meanwhile, was sitting on the floor by Xander (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/844777.html?thread=39253481#t39253481), since that was where the wee muffins were. An occasional snicker could be heard.

Duo mirrored Sam's confusion and scratched his head.

"A habitat for something that's not alive?" He said absently, then laughed. "Guess that's sorta along the lines of givin' pie to a little robotic bunny-klepto." And so, in order to not be hypocritical, he sets about trying to think where a small purple holographic dinosaur might like to sleep.

Stark took some muffins and sat down to work on a habitat for the tiny dinosaur. He started with the sleep area, since small things need to sleep a lot and they might as well be comfortable, even if they aren't real. He worked out a nice soft bed for Denver to sleep on, one that was extra bouncy in case he felt a need to jump on it.

The play area has some rocks and things to climb on or jump off of, and a tiny fort for hiding out in.

The feeding area was kind of boring, but it was functional. And it came preloaded with muffins.

Kawalsky loved this assignment already.

1) Feeding Station. That was the most important part. He mused for a moment and then set to work making an oversized Pez-like dispenser that dispensed bologna whenever Denver would put his foot on a piece of wood that was hooked up to a pulley system. It took a few tries to get it right, but eventually it tested well.

2) Play Area. He sketched out a plan first and then went about building a play area large enough for a weetiny purple baby brontosaurus. It had small trees and rocks and a log to climb over, plus a pond for swimming in and an area for a TV. What? Dinosaurs could like TV too.

3) Sleep Area. The sleep area was box-like in that it had a sheltered roof and walls with a large enough door that Denver would be able to crawl into even when he got a wee bit bigger. Inside was a bunk-like set-up with a ramp going up to the top. At the top was another box (with edges so he wouldn't fall off the top level) with plenty of padding and blankies.
