Summer Shenanigans [All Day Wednesday]

Good morning, everyone! It's time for another summer of Anakin Skywalker Thinks This Teaches Team Building and But Mostly Amuses Himself!

Or "Shenanigans."

The bleachers for viewing were set up in the park, close to the pond and near the Belthazor Commemorative Divot. Food vendors, remembering how this worked, had arrived with hot dogs, popcorn, and rum for the squirrels. And coffee. Just...so much coffee. Huge flatscreens were set up facing the bleachers, which gave people a hint that today's event would not just stay inside the park, and the cameras were trained at...well, ankle height or the sky for now because squirrels and rum.

Anakin and his bullhorn were standing behind a folding table stacked high with brightly patterned shirts, and people who had been here before knew that just because the shirts were free, it never, ever meant you wanted to wear them.

"GOOD MORNING!" he boomed through the completely unnecessary bullhorn when enough people were gathered. "Welcome to another summer of team building activities!"

He might be waiting for a while if he was expecting cheers, just saying.

"Today, as has become tradition, we shall conduct a relay race around the island to acquaint you newcomers with where things are!" he said. "Please listen as your name is called and then come up for your team-building clothing."

AKA: ugly Hawaiian shirts.

"You'll be in three groups of six."

As was tradition, the sleeves of Vi's shirt were not long for this world. And if she was flexing as she put her now sleeveless shirt on, well, certain people on the other teams needed to be properly intimidated.

"Oh no, I'm so scared," Steph yelled over at her.

Because heckling her about the sleeves was also tradition.

"Sorry, didn't hear that." Vi lifted her hands to cup her ears. That this also showed off her biceps was beyond the point.

Steph finished pulling her neon guitar covered shirt on over her tank top and started meandering in Vi's direction.

"Awww, are you trying to throw me off my game?" she asked in a mock-scandalized voice. "You always take the sleeves off within like five seconds. That's not a surprise or anything."

"I'm just looking out for my own well-being," Vi said, totally innocently as she stretched. "Don't want to pull anything."

"Uh huh," Steph replied, tucking her hands behind her head and oh, whoops, her cropped tank was riding up. "Didn't realize totally gratuitous flexing counted as anything but a flex."

Oh, how terrible. Vi didn't like the look of that at all. "I mean, I can understand how someone who only had noodle arms might think that."

"I'm going to remember that," Steph told her in the exact tone of voice she used when scheming up consequences for her players' shenanigans.

She didn't usually smirk that way from behind the GM screen, though.

Vi grinned. "I'm sure you will."

She was counting on it, even.

"Damn right I will," Steph said breezily. "It's too bad we're doing different legs of the relay race this time and I can't push you off the dock like last summer, huh?"

"Yeah, guess you'll miss out on that piggy back ride back to the park." That totally platonic one. Yes.

"I might still need one," Steph pointed out. "I think I'm gonna have to run with the bowling ball this time."

"I'll give you one home then," Vi said. "So you can rest those noodle arms."

Vi, you in danger, girl.

"Uh huh," Steph said, one eyebrow twitching ever so slightly upward.

Vi. You'd witnessed Steph using this voice on her players by now. You should know what that meant.

"Who said I was worried?" Steph asked. "I didn't bring up pasta. I'm not the one who should be worried."

She said with a big, impish smile.

Oh, what a terrible burden, doing a thing for her girlfriend that she liked doing for her girlfriend. Oh noes.

"Well, guess I learnt my lesson."

She hadn't.
