Good morning, everyone! It's time for another summer of Anakin Skywalker Thinks This Teaches Team Building and But Mostly Amuses Himself!

Or "Shenanigans."

The bleachers for viewing were set up in the park, close to the pond and near the Belthazor Commemorative Divot. Food vendors, remembering how this worked, had arrived with hot dogs, popcorn, and rum for the squirrels. And coffee. Just...so much coffee. Huge flatscreens were set up facing the bleachers, which gave people a hint that today's event would not just stay inside the park, and the cameras were trained at...well, ankle height or the sky for now because squirrels and rum.

Anakin and his bullhorn were standing behind a folding table stacked high with brightly patterned shirts, and people who had been here before knew that just because the shirts were free, it never, ever meant you wanted to wear them.

"GOOD MORNING!" he boomed through the completely unnecessary bullhorn when enough people were gathered. "Welcome to another summer of team building activities!"

He might be waiting for a while if he was expecting cheers, just saying.

"Today, as has become tradition, we shall conduct a relay race around the island to acquaint you newcomers with where things are!" he said. "Please listen as your name is called and then come up for your team-building clothing."

AKA: ugly Hawaiian shirts.

"You'll be in three groups of six."

Oh boy, another summer of polyblend fashion nightmares to wear! Aren't you excited?

Meet up with your teammates and assess your odds. Or complain about the shirts. Or both!

Please hold for some epic OCD.

The first two teammates (Cutter & Cara, Raiden & Steve M., and Steve R and Sam) will three-legged race from the edge of the park up alllllll of those stairs on Apocalypse Avenue and stop at Surf's Up, where they will get a bellyboard and a shark hat to pass along to the teammate waiting there. (And no, "I have one from last year" will not save them.) Then they can untie themselves, run up Sphinx Street, turn onto Loon Drive and stop at Chilly Boulder.

They must then order and consume a large chocolate milkshake as quickly as possible. Will you get a brain freeze? Oh yeah. After both of you have finished your milkshakes, and pass the boogie boards and the shark hats to your teammates (Libby & Connor, Stark & Vi, and Eleanor & Charlie)!

Our second teams (Libby & Connor, Stark & Vi, and Eleanor & Charlie), wearing shark hats and carrying boogie boards, run down Loon Drive and onto Unicorn and stop at the Trooper Station to do some burpees!

Like, 25 burpees.

Sorry.

Then they run all the way to the docks, jump into the water and paddle via bellyboard from the dock to the causeway parking lot. (Anakin has provided life vests and water wings because Safety First. They all look amazing.)

Drag yourself out of the water to tag your final pair of teammates!

The good news? The teams can now ditch the bellyboards and shark hats. The bad news? Your last two teammates (Steph & Gray, Clare & Graham, and Beaker & Guillermo) need to run from the causeway over to Fast Eddie's and put on bowling shoes. Then, each carrying a ten pound bowling ball, they have to run (without slipping and killing themselves or each other) down Black Swan Drive (with the steps) and back to the park where their teammates are waiting for them!

Surprise pie eating contest! Each team member must eat ahand pie (dietary needs have been addressed) using only their faces! First team to complete the challenge wins and so...

Congratulations, Team Flamingo!

There is a hose for cleaning off faces after you're finished.

Or stand around and wonder what of many things is wrong with Anakin.

Day two of pukey kid at home. Worst week.

"Okay, this shirt is killer," Steve said, looking extremely pleased with his flamingos.

If looks could kill, both Cara's shirt and Anakin's hair would be on fire. "Why do I do this to myself?"

As was tradition, the sleeves of Vi's shirt were not long for this world. And if she was flexing as she put her now sleeveless shirt on, well, certain people on the other teams needed to be properly intimidated.

Was Cara still shooting daggers at Anakin? Yes, yes she was.

When your de facto boss said she's give you a raise just for going down to the park to see who was participating in the shenanigans, you really didn't ask too many questions. Especially not when it was a good chance for some potentially great entertainment, a good opportunity for some great photos, and a good chance to get Noctra out and about to experience more of the (safer) side of Fandom.

Of course, there was the issue of what he was going to do if his name wound up being actually called. He liked to think, "uh, hey, man, I kinda have a baby here?" would work as a good excuse, but with Skywalker? Hard to tell.

In the meantime, he and Noctra were having a very impassioned discussion about which team to root for. Clearly, they were leaning toward Flamingo, because they resembled chocobos mostm

Well, they had a head start, and wasn't like running or swimming were especially tricky even when you looked ridiculous. So it was the just the burpees that were the hard part...mostly because Vi did not like being anywhere near the trooper station.

Charlie was here! She was ready! She was wearing glowing skulls!

"Awww, this reminds me of the guitar I used to have on the wall at the Record Traders," Steph said fondly, holding up the shirt. "But I still wish I had sunglasses."

Oh good, Steph didn't have to do the burpees this year.

...this might be worse, though. Running in bowling shoes? On the streets of this town? ~~In this economy?~~

How she was making a decent pace and not falling down, she had no idea.

Charlie ran down the streets with her boogie board, loving her shark hat. She was not as great at the burpees and tried to tell the troopers a song about them would be just as good. Which, didn't work and put her a bit behind in getting down to the docks.

She'd have done pretty well with just swimming, but wasn't nearly as coordinated on the paddle boards, especially with life vest and water wings, but managed to finally make it in - dead last.

But cheerful!

Eating Charlie could do and did very well and with much glee!

Steve was paired with a blue felt eagle! Sure! He gave him a grin. "How are you about competition?" he asked.

"Oh, we are gonna sweep this," Steve said, barely containing his glee. "Rogers has an eagle strapped to his leg."

Well, there were bowling shoes that fit Beaker's feet, so that was a bonus! The bowling ball weighed as much as he did.

"Meep meep meep mee," he said sadly to Guillermo.

Eleanor, clearly, had no idea what was going on with this whole thing, all she knew was that she was apparently supposed to be here, and now she had....a shirt. With skulls. In sort of a male style.

Grandmère would not approve. Luma probably wouldn't, either.

But Eleanor maybe kind of loved it.
