"You rent tuxedos? I have a suit jacket from goodwill. It's really nice tweed." Blair grabbed a notebook and scribbled down. "Make dinner plans. Buy corsage. Anything else?"
"No tweed," said Janet firmly, trying to hide a horrified look. "No matter how nice it is. If you need someone to go with you to rent a tux, we can go out to the store after classes today and I'll help you pick something out." She leaned over to read the notebook. "You two are dating, right? Maybe get roses with the corsage. Check with Parker on what color dress Molly got, and find something to match the dress. Dinner doesn't have to be any place fancy." She frowned. "Which reminds me, do I have dinner plans? I need to find out."
"You do know to pay extra attention to your date and not to any anthropological study of dating rituals in society, right?"
"Really, that's awesome, man!" Blair bounced and scribbled down talk to Parker and roses.
"Who are you going with?" Blair asked absentmindly while he wrote down the last piece of advice. "And I know all about the whole no doing dating studies. But maybe just a small notebook? In case something really interesting happens!"
"Just think of renting formalwear as the ultimate in recycling," said Janet, grinning.
"I don't have a date," said Janet quickly. "And no notebooks. I'm sure you'll be able to remember the details of anything interesting well enough to write them down after you're done. Oh! You should probably walk Molly back to her room after the dance is over too."
"I think renting all our clothing would be difficult," said Janet. "What would you do if you wanted to wear the shirt you returned a week ago? I'll just be satisfied with not wasting things needlessly."
"Thanks, but I think Sam and Liz would kill me, since they're the ones forcing me to go." Janet grinned. "Save me a dance instead? And we'll have to hang out at the dance, definitely."
"Possibly even color-coded," said Janet seriously. "In case you want to categorize your notes."
OOC: Alas, I have to get up early tomorrow do deal with the kidlet, and will only be up for another hour. My plans were a last-minute kind of thing arranged by my husband. *pout* So we must handwave. Hm. But we need to get them together another time! Blair'll be around over the summer, right?
