Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day

Despite the fact that this picnic was celebrating the new fall semester, it was still technically summer, and the weather was making that clear. It was sunny, with not a cloud in the sky, and the temperature was seasonably toasty.

With not a minute to spare, the food was ready, the tables and chairs had been spread across the lawn with just the right amount of glitter on them, and everything was ready to welcome a new batch of folks to the island!

Kurt was excited. He'd finally get the meet the little sibling he had been matched up with. It was a good thing too because he was really curious about the name he had been given- TJ Wagner. It had to just be a coincidence that they shared the same last name. Right?

Kurt found a spot where he could easily watch the crowd and try to figure out where his little sibling was.

TJ was absolutely not looking around, having no idea she'd been assigned a big brother. She was at the food table, getting a burger and stocking up on cookies.

What? She liked chocolate chip.

That was logical. And eventually Kurt did make his way over for a second, or maybe third (it didn't really matter, shhhhhhh) helping of food. And as he made his way towards the end of the table where the cookies and other sweets were he was paying attention more to his plate than anything around him and almost walked into someone in front of him.

"Oh, sorry about that..." Kurt started to apologize as he looked up. And then he couldn't help but stare, despite his best effort not to.

Kurt cleared his throat and tried again. "You wouldn't happen to be TJ would you?"

Jo was going to be a big sibling again this semester, she was still a bit nervous even after doing this a few times but she was still excited about doing this again and she put on her name tag and began to look around for Meeka.

And lo, Meeka was not hard to find! She was the girl with the entire mountain of gold luggage, the name tag that said 'Meeka' on it, and a faintly lost expression she was trying to hide under a polite smile.

Jo definitely noticed the gold luggage, she didn’t know it was possible for luggage to come in gold and the old Jo would definitely have been jealous but now she smiled brightly when she noticed Meeka, “hello, I’m Jo, well Josephine Jones but I go by Jo,” she said, “Welcome to Fandom, I’m going to be your big sibling to help you get settled in,”

Gold luggage was a whole thing in her family, though Meeka was already doing better than her father had in his trip to America, when his and Semmi's luggage had been stolen almost immediately upon arrival in Queens.

"Greetings, Jo," Meeka said, offering her a hand. "Thank you very much for your assistance in helping me settle in. I was told of this custom in the brochure and have brought you a gift in thanks."

She turned to one of her smaller suitcases and opened it; if Jo looked inside, it appeared to be filled with all manner of jewelry - and two wrapped presents. Taking the one on the left, Meeka offered it over with a smile.

"In appreciation for your kindness and understanding," she said. "I hope this is the beginning of a lovely friendship for us - and that I will not be too difficult, as I am not used to being the little sister."

Jo was very surprised and was still not used to receiving gifts from friends, she smiled as she accepted the offered gift.

“Thank you,” she with a warm smile, “that is very kind of you, I hope we can have a lovely friendship as well, that is one thing I do love about this school, everyone has been so helpful and friendly, much better than my last school,” admittedly that had been because Jo had been very unlikeable back then but she was choosing to not focus so much on that.

Now she was definitely feeling bad that she didn’t have anything for Meeka, maybe she could buy something later?

There was a pause, “you have younger siblings?” she asked, “I have a younger brother but he’s at home, he’s only five,”

With barely any time between getting back from space and needing to be at the welcome picnic to track down her newest Sibling, Libby was a little rushed in dropping off her things, taking a few moments to make sure she looked presentable, and then heading out to the lawn. It looked like things were just getting underway, though, so she probably didn't need to rush as much as she had, but she immediately started looking around for new faces, potentially at nametags, and trying to figure out which one might look like a Charlie.

Which was proving a little difficult, because she was absolutely looking for a boy and not exactly finding any new ones of those, as far as she could tell!

Charlie was looking around, too, if a little distracted by all the gorgeous people around. "Libby? Anyoen named Libby around?"

Well, that certainly got her attention, and she was starting to wonder if she should have been doing something similar, but it surprised her, a little, that someone would be asking for her.

"I'm named Libby!" she chirped, almost proudly, heading over to the other girl with a smile. "Or, well, close enough, anyway."

Which then seemed to spark a realization in her, one that made her feel almost a little embarrassed as a person with a nickname herself, especially since this face was definitely a new one, and, short of there being another student coming in named Libby, too, that almost made her wonder...

She looked at the other girl curiously, and volleyed back, "Anyone named Charlie around?"

"Libby!" Charlie exclaimed. "Or should I not call you that? And yes, there is definitely someone named Charlie around and that someone would be me."

She spread her arms wide in a ta-da sort of motion and grinned.

Libby's cheeks went a little red as she reprimanded herself, because she really shouldn't have just assumed that a Charlie would be a boy, but she grinned, because, her own missteps aside, she was already feeling like the two of them would be getting along.

"Well," she said, "it's very nice to meet you, Charlie, and you can definitely call me Libby, because everyone does. And I've actually been looking for you, I'm your Big Sibling for the school. That means I'm here to help you out with getting comfortable and familiar with the place. So if you need any help with anything or have any questions, I'm the one you can go to.

"You can really go to just about anyone, though," she added. "People here are real friendly. But where are you coming from, Charlie? Did you have an okay trip here?"

Gray had never been a big brother before, and he was positively vibrating with excitement.

Well, that and the extremely large, extremely sugary concoction he'd picked up at The Perk that morning. There was a lot of espresso in there, too. It should hold Sloth off for at least a little while. Now he just needed to find his little sibling.

Beta had only been a little sister for a scant handful of months, so it was still going to be a pretty new experience all around!

It... wouldn't be hard to pick out the pale, scrawny-looking girl with the odd glowing metal triangle attached to her left temple and nervousness written into her every movement as a newbie, even before noticing the nametag with the shakily handwritten 'BETA' on it.

Well, this place could be a lot. Some nerves were to be understood.

"Are you Beta?" Gray asked, like her name tag didn't give that away. "Hi! I'm Gray!" Surnames were for suckers. "The school assigned me to help show you the ropes! I'm your big brother!" And he was so excited about it.

Beta did startle a little bit at that, yes. There was really no way she could pretend otherwise.

"I'm -- yes, that's me," she said. "You're really supposed to help me get acclimated to everything?"

He reminded her a little bit of Alva in his excitement, which was surprisingly effective at making her feel more at ease.

"That's the idea!" Gray agreed. "Okay, so." They should start by establishing a baseline. "How much do you know about this place so far?" He considered. "Uh, do you know what a school is?"

It was a reasonable question!

Allie was having the worst morning, which included waking up in jail in the wrong state, having terrible coffee, finding a Portalocity office and having zero luck at the Portalocity office, realizing she was dressed for December in what appeared to be summer, and just general quiet panic about getting back to New Ham.

So she wasn't even aware she was getting a big sib. Sorry!

Belle, on other hand, was aware that she would be getting a little sibling. She had her name tag on and was looking around for someone who might be her newly assigned sibling.

"Allie?" she called out eventually when a loop around the picnic hadn't proven productive. "Does anyone know an Allie?"

Allie looked around a little. There weren't that many people, but enough that there could be other Allies.

"I'm Allie," she said after a moment.
