Did anyone want to be awake for this after the kraken drill?

No.

Was that going to stop Anakin? Of course not!

The bleachers were down on the beach today, along with eight large rafts floating semi-precariously out in the water. Was this tempting a real kraken to arrive?

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaybe.

"Today it's really, ridiculously hot," Anakin yelled through the megaphone. "So I'm letting you get wet! You're welcome!"

Wait to hear what you're doing first before expressing your gratitude.

"You will be conducting a water balloon fight out there on the water. You will be given hand-held balloon launchers, and a bucket full of water balloons." Which may or may not contain water. "You will have teams of eight. Fastest team to pass a water balloon all the way down the line wins. You get a time penalty at the end for each balloon that breaks along the way. Listen for your names!''

Not that it looked like they were going to win this one, but she did at least want to avoid last place.

"I'm on it!" Miguel yelled back. The second balloon made it in without mishap, and he shot it over.

And hey, Steph -- well, she would have caught it, except that the raft bobbed at the last second and she ended up having to keep her balance instead.

"Ugh, stupid waves."

"Ugh," Miguel agreed. "Hey, he never said we couldn't improvise, right?"

He picked up a balloon (carefully), then spun web around it in a layer a few inches thick. Now it was bigger, unbreakable, and sticky!

"Heads up!" He grinned at Steph and lobbed it over toward her.

"Bro, what?" yelped Steph as the balloon came toward her. She reached out, not thinking she'd catch it since it seemed like it was just going to brush against her fingertips --

And realized it was sticking to them, at least enough for her to get her other hand underneath it in time.

"Bro, what," she said again, this time in surprise.

"Spiderweb," Miguel called cheerfully. "Don't worry, it dries out and drops off eventually."

She'd have it all over her hands until then, but hey - the balloon was caught!

And promptly fell over the side of her raft with the next wave that made it bob.

Miguel sighed. "You caught it, didn't you?" he muttered. He got another balloon and started preparing it while he watched to make sure she'd be okay.
