Was there a reason the library had provided geometry books and romance novels today? Who could say?

Belle wasn't concerned with it. She was just sitting at the desk, happily reading and occasionally daydreaming about her suitors.

Did Five bring a bouquet? No. He brought his own brooding self, standing in a shadowy area of the library that really shouldn't exist, but there it was. And there he was too.

Brooding.

How very Byronic of him.

Oh, but he brooded so well! So mysteriously! Belle could barely stand it.

"Five! I nearly missed you there."

However could she miss him? Was it because of Harry, honing in on their relationship like the interloper that he was?

"Belle," he said. And since when did he have a low, gravely voice? Never. Not even old man him! "I never miss a library day."

Oh, how edgy.

But the new voice suited him so well! It made him sound dangerous!

"Oh, I know. I always look forward to your visits."

"As much as you look forward to Harry's visits?" Oh, would this turn into a woobie thing?

"I look forward to visits from both of you!"

Why choose when you could have both?

Five looked away, you know, off into the middle distance so that it looked cool and mysterious. "But you'll have to chose between us."

Because reasons.

"But why?" Belle asked, dismayed. Surely she could keep having two handsome suitors competing for her affections without any negative consequences whatsoever! Couldn't she?

"Because, in the game of love, there are winners and losers," Five said dramatically. It might have been a play on the Game of Thrones line, but that was neither here nor there. "And I plan to win. You."

Yep. Nailed it.

Belle blushed a little at that.

"And how do you plan on doing that?"

Broodily? With murder? Maybe with more leather?

How about all of the above?

"Oh, I think you know how," Five said, stepping forward into her personal space. Jesus, Five. Maybe check before doing things like that at her work. Not cool.

Mmm, murder leather.

"Perhaps you should show me," Belle said, giving in to temptation and putting out a hand to touch those abs.

"Oh, I will," Five promised, pulling her close in a way that was straight up ripped from a romance novel.

Harry only glared a little because he was a long suffering hero type and they were better than that.

But there was a curt, "Five."

Yeah. Well. Five was a brooding anti-hero. Which was cooler. Everyone knew that was way cooler.

"Harry," Five replied with a dismissive sniff. Ooo, shades of Malfoy there.

Did that make it really hot? Best not to think about that.

"Here to see Belle?"

Well, they did kiss that once... no, no that wasn't for now.

"Are you?" He was onto you. Sure, she was a beautiful, lovely girl who had a thing for dangerous older men, but maybe Harry's sexy facial scar also lured her in.

"I am," Harry said. "She wants to see me."

So there!

"Does she? I don't see why." Five had a leather jacket! Now. He definitely wasn't wearing it before, but that detail was now established for this scene.

Leather jacket. Hot.

"I'm caring and honest. A real romantic."

Aka the kind of guy who got left by his fiancée in romcoms.

"Unlike you!"

"Maybe I'm not a romantic, but I know what the real world is like." Full of murder. "And she likes that."

"She deserves better than that!" Harry declared. "She deserves to be treated like a Princess! No, a queen!"

"And what? You can manage that? With your stupid magic?" Curse his not having any magic to appeal to her!

"Damn right I can! I'm a Chosen One!"

Actually given that it made se she he thought he was due a romance.

"Yeah, well. I'm a time travelling assassin with daddy issues," Five shot back. Because you can't top how cool that was, Chosen One!
