Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day

It was unseasonably warm in Fandom today, which was good news for anyone who didn't want to have to worry about bundling up, and bad news for anyone hoping for a snowy picnic. Traditions were traditions though, so there was still a bonfire going and plenty of supplies for s'mores and hot chocolate among the variety of foods and drinks that had been prepared for the new folks.

Once everything was set up and un-tasteful amounts of glitter had been brushed off of everything, it was time to be welcoming!

After she had spent some time people watching, Liz thought maybe she should try and make an effort to mingle more and her gaze went over to the teachers area, she would say hi to Prompto but maybe this was a good opportunity to get out of her comfort zone and meet some new people as well.

She had seen Sidon at the dance but hadn’t approached him, since she had spent most of the night when she wasn’t with Prompto apologising to different people for what had happened the other weekend and she knew him and Prompto were friends so maybe it was time she introduced herself.

“Um …excuse me? Uh … Prince Sidon” she said, trying not to sound nervous about introducing herself to one of Prompto’s closest friends as she approached him.

"Why, yes!" Sidon met even that most timid of approaches with a bright and beaming (and toothy!) smile, looking down at Liz and looking positively pleased to be engaging in their conversation already. "That is me! Sidon!" His fist was so ready to pump across his chest right now, because that was the best part of a new semester! The introductions! "The Zora Prince! And I don't believe I've had the honor to make your acquaintence yet! You're a friend of Prompto's, are you not?"

It would, after all, have been terribly remiss of him if he had not taken note of the lovely young woman who seemed to have been joining him at so many of the island's exciting events these days!

And despite her best efforts she started blushing at the mention of Prompto's name, "I am," she said with a shy smile, "I'm Liz, Liz Sherman," there was an awkward pause, "it's nice to met you Prince Sidon, Prompto's told me a lot about you,"

"Only good things, I should hope!" Sidon declared, with a mighty big laugh, although he certainly couldn't think of anything at all that Prompto would have to say about him that would be even remotely negative. "But, yes, Prompto and I go way back, although it's been significantly longer for me than it has for him! You see, I went through a bit of a time skip the last time I went home. It's been about thirty years! Which is not a lot for a Zora, truth be told, but for you humans, I know that can be an incredible span of time! Still, I'm glad we've both managed to come back to teach around the same time; he truly is a good friend, and it's because of him that my kingdom and his shall eternally have an unbreakable truce and partnership!"

And with that, his smile softed at little at Liz as he added, "And, please, Liz, just Sidon shall be sufficient. No need for such formalities! A friend of Prompto's is certainly a friend of mine!"

"Prompto speaks very highly of you, Pr - Sidon," she managed to catch herself in time, "I meant to introduce myself earlier but ..." she hesitated briefly since the last couple of weeks had been a lot, "the last couple of weeks were rather chaotic," it was a bit of an understatement.

"Ah, yes," said Sidon, who couldn't help grinning with amusement at the little catch, which was a very common thing and rather endearing to him every time. "I've heard about that, the whole thing with a time loop, wasn't it? I had the fortune of being back home in my kingdom of Zora's Domain through all of that, but it caused quite the unexpected conundrum at the Animal Shelter with the new tanks that were supposed to be installed over the weekend! But no matter! It seems to have righted itself quite sufficiently, and I am happy to say that the tanks look even more spectacular than I would have expected! And not a moment too soon, either!"

After all, once it really started to get cold, spending his Fandom nights under the docks would be downright untenable!

"It was the time loop..." she hesitated, maybe Sidon hadn't listened to radio and didn't know about ... everything that had happened, "I remembered everything happening, it wasn't ..." her voice trailed off as she tried to think of a way to not explain what she'd done, "it wasn't a pleasant experience," she finally admitted.

She paused, "oh you use tanks?" she said, focusing on that aspect of the conversation, "um my friend Abe at home uses a big tank, it's where he stays most of the time,"

Sidon's enthusiasm dropped away a little with a genuine frown of concern. "I am terribly sorry to hear that, Liz," he said, his tone gone a little grave, but softened just as smoothly as it had deepened, with another smile returning to the surface. "But the good thing is that the ordeal is quite over now, and we can move past it, as with most troublesome things that may occur.

"And tanks," he returned even closer to his earlier brightness, "are a wonderful and elegant solution to the problem of a suitable sleeping space while on the island during the colder months! I'm actually a bit shocked I didn't think of it sooner, as a tank was precisely what I had when I was a student here! But I suppose," here he gave a faint chuckle, "I can blame that on the thirty years since!

"I don't suppose...and si realize this is likely quite the long stretch...but your friend Abe....he's not a Zora as well, by any chance, is he?"

“Thank you,” she said softly, fidgeting nervously a bit as she considered what to say but talking about Abe seemed to be a good response.

“Oh …no I’m sorry he’s not a Zora …he’s … he’s an icytho sapien… I guess a psychic amphibian is the closest to describe his species,” she explained.
