Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day

It was unseasonably warm in Fandom today, which was good news for anyone who didn't want to have to worry about bundling up, and bad news for anyone hoping for a snowy picnic. Traditions were traditions though, so there was still a bonfire going and plenty of supplies for s'mores and hot chocolate among the variety of foods and drinks that had been prepared for the new folks.

Once everything was set up and un-tasteful amounts of glitter had been brushed off of everything, it was time to be welcoming!

Guillermo definitely noticed that Kurt appeared to have fangs and tried not to stare in wonder at that, he was extremely tempted to ask if Kurt was a vampire … maybe there were vampires who could walk around in the sun (he was still a good number of years from meeting Colin Robinson) but then thought that might be too rude.

“Movie nights would definitely be cool, have you ever seen ~~meta for~~Interview with the Vampire?” he asked excitedly.

"Oh!" Kurt's eyes lit up. "I've always wanted to, but haven't yet. We'll definitely have to make that the first one we watch! I wonder if this place has a movie theater or video store? If not, guess we can also watch things on my laptop once we run through the movies you have!"

"Oh it's incredible, it started my love of all things vampires," Guillermo said excitedly, "especially because it had Antonio Banderas play a vampire," he grinned, "I don't know about a movie theatre ... they might have one?" he considered, "the island does seem pretty small, but I'm sure we can definitely find more movies to watch though,"

"Definitely looking forward to it!" Kurt agreed. "Will give something to do on the weekend and after classes. Oh, speaking of which. Have you figured out what classes you have this semester?"

“Oh I did get my schedule,” Guillermo pulled out the paper that had his classes written down, “it seems this semester I’m doing exit strategies, weaponry, bakeineering, PE Health, Home Economics, Drama and I’m doing Coping through cuisine at any age at the community centre,” he really wasn’t sure about those weapons based classes, the only weapons experience he had was through LARPING.

"Oh hey, we have a couple classes together! I have Weaponry and PE Health too!" Kurt said grinning. "And a bunch of other classes... I have.... "Kurt scanned the paper again "eight classes total. Oh and also that same Community Center Class- so hopefully we don't get tired of each other" Kurt said with a teasing wink.

Oh that’s awesome,” Guillermo grinned, “it will be nice to have someone familiar in classes, we could help each other with assignments and things?”

He was aware that he was being incredibly dorky and nerdy now, “I mean if you …you wanted to,” he stammered with a nervous laugh, “but yeah it does seem well be spending a lot of time together …not that that’s a bad thing,” he added quickly.

"Study buddies all the way!" Kurt said enthusiastically. "And as long as you aren't bothered by occasional snoring, I think we should be good to go. Though, I do have one somewhat personal question I should probably ask sooner rather than later..." Kurt said somewhat apologetically. "But ummmm.. how... how sensitive is your nose? Your sense of smell I mean?"

“Oh I don’t have a problem with anything like that,” Guillermo assured him, “same with my sense of smell, at least I haven’t had issues with it before,” he tilted his head curiously at Kurt, “um…why do you ask?”

"Oh well... I have a... ummm special ability I guess you would call it. I can teleport." He paused and watched for Guillermo's reaction. "And a side effect of it is.. well... a slight brimstone smell. It doesn't last long. And I promise not to port in or of our dorm room" he said with a smirk. "Just wanted to check cuz... well, some people are a bit sensitive to that kind of smell."

"You can teleport as well? That's amazing!" Guillermo's eyes were wide in awe, you were seriously becoming one of his favourite people ever Kurt, "Illyana made these portals appear and she could step through them," he revealed and then remembered there was more to Kurt's revelation, "oh ...but don't worry about the smell aspect ... like teleporting is so cool!" he gushed excitedly.

There was a pause, "oh um I don't have any abilities or things like that, I'm rather boring to be honest,"

It was going to be rather a surprise to him when he discovered that he wasn't as boring as he thought.

"Within in limits yeah, I can teleport. Still learning all the specifics of it really. I've only just started being able to extend how far I can go each time. And I can only teleport to a place I can see or a place I already know and can visualize clearly" Kurt explained before noting the pause in Guillermo's reasons and he gave his new friend a smile.

"And no one who has that many movies and books and knows everything there is to know about vampires can be called boring!" Kurt reassured him.

"Oh that's cool that you can do that," Guillermo grinned and then ducked his head shyly, "I've been studying vampires since I was a kid," he revealed, he knew how much of a dork he was being right now but well he did love talking about vampires, "I always thought it would be cool to meet one," he paused, "I mean I'm pretty sure they don't exist in my world?" he considered, "I like to think they do though,"

"There might not be actual vampires in my world" Kurt said after giving it some thought. "But I'm sure there are Mutants who have some of the main characteristics of vampires. Flying or teleportation, mind control, kinetic powers, transformations, I know several mutants with powers like these so... maybe vampires are simply a way people tired to explain mutants? or maybe they ARE mutants who got called vampires once and it's stuck?"

“Oh wow, are there a lot of people who have powers in your world?” Guillermo was definitely intrigued the more he learned about Kurt and his home. “It could be possible that’s what happened ... " he nodded thoughtfully, "they sound similar to vampire traits,"

He paused and then in an excited babble quickly said, “Illyana said there’s vampire who lives on the island,” Guillermo revealed excitedly since he had ~~just found out in their thread~~, “he’s name’s Eric … apparently he used to be an actual viking even though his bar doesn’t serve minors though, I don’t know if I’d be allowed in even to talk to him.”

"Well, maybe he leaves the bar? At night or something?" Kurt offered. "Or maybe one of the teachers or someone can ask him maybe to meet us or something after the bar closes one night. I'm sure we can figure out something" he added optimistically.

“I hope so, that would be so cool to be able to talk to him,” assuming he didn’t freeze up or anything that he was in the presence of an actual vampire, Guillermo was definitely in fanboy mode here, “I never thought Fandom would be anything like this, this place is fantastic and is definitely a million times better than my old school,” and it was only the first day even, he hadn’t even gotten to any of his classes or anything.
