"Good morning and welcome to the Fandom Pentathlon!" Anakin said through his bullhorn, surrounded by bunting and Olympic rings. "In the spirit of the Olympic games, we too will be competing in teams in fencing, shooting, cross-country running--"

Beaker beside him was looking more and more panicked. "Meep meep meep meep meep!"

Anakin put down the bullhorn. "You what?"

"Meep meep meep meep meep meep meep meep meep--"

Anakin listened to the extensive explanation with a long sigh. "So. Slight mixup. Beaker has pulled five Olympic sports from a hat and that is what you will be competing! So: skateboarding, pairs canoe slalom, beach volleyball, archery, and equestrian jumping."

More meeping.

"Really? We could not find horses. So...alot of jumping." The alots--kind of buffalo-adjacent but made out of springs--in their pens made alot of noise. Anakin sighed again. "Here goes nothing. Listen for your names."

Feeling weirdly nationalistic? Get delicious food on sticks!

Rosa had come for the schadenfreude (okay, okay, and the food on sticks, who didn't love food on sticks?), but she had definitely stayed for for the shorts.

Maybe you weren't so bad after all, Skywalker.

Maybe you know how to play some of these games? Hopefully?

Wanda was not even surprised when she heard her name called. She had started wearing sneakers on Wednesdays just in case.

Someday there might come a Wednesday when Stark was not in a hole and not being mildly tormented in Anakin's nonsense. Today was not that day.

He sighed, shook his head, and walked up to get his shirt.

Rey did not know some of these! Sooo this should be interesting. At least the shirt was inoffensive!

Irene had closed up the shop to come watch this for a bit, and looked around in alarm when her name was called.

"Oh, no, I don't wear tee shirts," she decided, taking one look at the proposed clothing item. "Or any of this."

Though she did know that she was probably going to end up putting it on -- and, probably, kicking off her shoes -- in order to participate, anyway. Even if this was new, she remembered well enough how Fandom things like this tended to go.

Miguel eyed the shirt. "What even is this thing?"

He was choosing to focus on that rather than the thought that he had very little idea how any of these sports worked.

"Rwally, Anakin? Really??" Dwight said as he eyed the shirt.

Sakaki tried to be content with the shirt she was given, but she couldn't help herself from looking over at the Tokyo 2021 team with at least a little bit of homesick longing before considering her own Atlanta 1996 one.

She'd never even been to Atlanta. She wasn't even sure she knew where that was. Wasn't that somme city in the ocean? One she would have considered to be just a myth before she went to school here...

Oh, well...

Oh boy.

Beaker had been busy construction a skate park down by the sand yesterday ~~apparently~~! Put on your helmet, get on your skateboard and go up and down the slopes and onto the rails without tipping over and braining yourself! Points for jumps and landings, of course.

Astrid and then Alexis, Miguel and Summer, Stark and Alara, and Wanda and Beaker are all up!

"Meep meep meep meep," Beaker muttered dubiously as he pulled his helmet on and immediately couldn't see. The perils of a chinless existance!

Oh god, this would have been Pietro's thing, not hers. Wanda managed to stay on the skateboard for a good 90 seconds before it flew out from under her. She had to use her magic to keep from eating pavement.

Alara was amazed that she was not only able to complete the course as well as she did but stay on the skateboard without breaking it.

Stark had never been on a skateboard in his life. When would Stark have had the opportunity?

There was no reason he ought to have been able to do as well as he did, here. None whatsoever. And yet here he was, making it the entire way through without falling. He was laughing, delighted, by the end.

Alexis had never done this before, but she'd met a lot of sk8er bois thanks to that summer she hung out with Avril Lavigne a lot.

How slow could she go on this thing.

Miguel should have had an easier time of this, since he could balance on the thing just fine!

Unfortunately, he kept misjudging the timing and amount of push he needed. He did some really impressive jumps! And missed the rails and had to keep doubling back to get back on the course.

"Skateboarding?" Summer frowned a little, as she poked a toe at her board a bit skeptically. "Seriously? Who do I look like, Avril Lavigne?"

Well. At least the year on her shirt felt more appropriate to the event, anyway.
