BWI Airport Portalocity Lounge- Saturday morning

It was't so much that Alexis wanted to go back to school, it was just that her options to bounce around a bit had dried up for the moment, and she should probably at least check this place out? She hadn't gotten to see much of it aside from the volcano and all, and very little of the area outside, so why not hang out for a while?

She'd amassed a lot of bags around her: on the floor, the seats next to her. A throne of luggage, of sorts. She was already a little bored waiting, wondering who else would show up, and how much glitter had gone into the giant "FANDOM HIGH" sign that was hanging.

...and how that glitter had already gotten on her designer luggage, which she was now trying to pick off with an, "Ew."

Something very...peculiar was going on here, but Freya would be lying if she said it hadn't captured her curiosity. Things were quite normal at first; she'd just gotten off the cable car in the Business District, intent to speak with someone about some upgrades on her lance, only to be handed an odd ticket by the attendant that read Fandom High and little else. Perhaps a new production in the Theater District, some sort of guerrilla marketing? She'd heard there was a new troupe setting up shop, perhaps she'd check it out...

But when she stepped out of the station, she found herself not on the streets of Lindblum at all but, instead...in another station? And those certainly didn't look anything like cable cars! Or mist ships, for that matter! How curious indeed! And even though she was getting quite a few strange looks, she found an attendant to help point the way to a section of the station where a large, incredibly sparkly banner matched the words on the ticket in her paw.

She looked at the ticket, back to the banner, and then back to the ticket.

"Well," she murmured, mostly to herself, her tail twitching slightly behind her, "I suppose this is the place."

And then she looked up, past her long snout, the one green eye that wasn't hidden by the careless shag of her white hair taking in the little lobby and wondering what this might be all about, with a very particular thrill of excitement racing through her.

After all, she'd searched the continents high and low, but perhaps this odd occurrence might be the thing to finally lead her to her lost Sir Fratley!

[[ wiiiith an SP warning because work, but I was going to be twitchy until I pinged her in officially! ]]

hat was fine. After all, a Burmecian dragon knight was often a rare sight, and a female one even more so considering that Freya was the only one. So she was used to the occasional stare and curious look. She nodded to the girl, after passing another look around the lobby.

And at all the luggage.

"You seem to have quite the journey ahead of you," she observed.

To or from Treno, perhaps? Although she dressed oddly for a Treno noble.

Although Freya also had the distinct feeling that perhaps shecwas not in Gaia anymore...

Freya ducked her head a little, lifting a knuckle to the end of her snout to hide an expression of faint amusement.

"And you've clearly used that foresight to ensure that you're well prepared," she said, almost wondering what a person could even put in all that luggage.

"I've found," said Freya, with a light tone of amusement, "all I need for any situation is a good lance."

Like the obstaniously large one on her back, for example.

"But I'm going there," she said, pointing a claw at the banner. She didn't know why, but she was eager.to find out. " So if that's the school, then yes."

"Burmecia."

Which seemed a bit obvious, considering that was where Burmecians were from, and she supposed the other girl could have assumed she was Cleyran, but the dragon knight's garb should be a dead give-away, if not for the fact that Cleyrans had isolated themselves nearly a hundred years ago....

"Well," she then amended, "I suppose technically I came from Lindblum, that's where I was directly before this. I was thinking of settling there for a while to try and find more information on where love love, Sir Fratley may be found."

This next part felt like a long jump, even for a dragon, but Freya felt she simply had to ask.

"I don't suppose you've heard anything regarding his whereabouts, have you? Even so much as a whisper of the great dragon knight Sir Fratley?"

It was bad manners to stare but Elli couldn't help it.

She swallowed, reminded herself that the brochures had said people would be from all over and this was likely a costume of some sort (though it didn't look like a costume...) and there was no need to keep staring like a bumpkin.

"Are you here for Fandom High?" she said, a touch diffidently.

At least Freya was quite used to etting curious looks thanks to her travels in the past year; she had only earned a bit of a reputation around the Mist Continent so far.

"Apparently so," she said, a bit wryly, holding up the strange ticket that lead her here. "Do you know anything about it?"

"It's a school on a small island known as Fandom Island," she explained, relieved that, however strange they were, the... person... seemed nice enough so far. "This is where we're to wait for the shuttle that will take us there."

"A school?" Freya asked, folding her arms in front of her for a moment before one knuckle lifted thoughtfully to her chin. How intriguing! "I see. Then this ticket must be for me to board the shuttle..."

Could it perhaps be that Sir Fratley had somehow found his way to this Fandom Island and was now teaching others as he had taught her? It didn't quite fit his claim that he was leaving to improve his own skills, but he did value being able to spread his deep knowledge to others....

"Yes," she said, not wanting to disagree, though she didn't have a ticket that looked quite like that. "Only, you seem surprised...? Were you not intending to attend?"

"Not at all!" Freya remarked, a little of her surprise working into her otherwise fairly stoic voice. "I've already completed my education. I was merely on the way to the blacksmith to see about improving my lance," you know, the giant one on her back that had been conspicuously missing I the narrative this far, " when I stepped out of the Business District and into..." She gestured an arm toward the lobby they were in, "this!"

"Oh!"

That seemed... incredibly unusual.

"Perhaps there will be a blacksmith on the island?" she suggested.

Since, you know, Mineral Town had about thirty people tops and they had a blacksmith.

"I think," Freya pointed out, "I will have far more pressing matters than sharpening my spears once I get to Fandom Island, but that would be a helpful thing."

The green eye that wasn't hidden behind her hair observed the other girl thoughtfully.

"I take it your trip to this place is a little more...expected than my own?"

Julius was also staring, but less in bewilderment and more like he was trying to place her species. Some kind of spirit perhaps? Learning about different magical creatures had been part of his training, of course, but this...individual...didn't seem to fit any of the species he'd ever heard of.

...But then, it wasn't like he got out much.

"Are you also going to this...Fandom High?" he asked.

Was he the only person who'd never even heard of this place?

Fear not, Julius, as Freya was quite clueless about it herself, as might be suggested in her shrug.

"I have a ticket," she said, holding up the printed paper that looked so much like a cable car ticket but was definitely not, "so I suppose I may as well, even if I'm not sure what it even is, exactly. Are you familiar with it?"

She guessed that he wasn't, considering that pause.

"Not in the slightest," he said, looking at least faintly relieved to not be the only person who had a) no luggage and b) no idea what this place was. Though she had a ticket, so at least she belonged. "I...didn't even expect to be on this coast."

Or any coast, really!

"So we're on the coast," Freya noted, adding another piece to this strange but unfolding mystery, folding her arms in front of her and lifting a hand thoughtfully to the end of her snout. "Which one? Or I suppose a better question might be what kingdom?

"I was in Lindblum, just before now," she added, as if to help him out as well, "but this," she gestured toward the lobby, " doesn't look like any part of Lindblum I've ever been to."

"I was in the DFZ," Julius volunteered. "Also just before now. But this is Baltimore. Uh, on the East Coast. Maryland?"

He'd never heard of Lindblum before, but Alexis hadn't heard of the DFZ, so maybe everything was just upside down and topsy turvy today.

"I haven't heard of any of those places!" Freya remarked, her one visible eye widening in surprise. "What continent? I have travelled to the Outer Continent,'
" her voice began to gain a rush of excitement, though she kept it reined in, reserved, despite her eagerly pounding heart, " but there are legends that speak of others! Could this possibly be one? But how did I get here? How is that possible?"

[personal profile] nicedragonsfinishlast 2020-05-09 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
"There are seven continents," Julius said, "but I've never heard of one called the 'Outer' continent before." And how did nobody here know about the DFZ?! "I'm not sure how you got here. I'm not sure how I got here. I walked through a door and down a hallway and suddenly I was halfway across the country so..." He shrugged, confused. "I guess we're all just...here."

Helpful, Julius.

"I'm Julius, by the way," he said, offering his hand. "Julius, err. Quetz."

Totally made that one sound natural. Good job, kid.

"It's nice to meet you, Julius Erquetz," Freya said, with a small smile before positively burying his hand with her incredibly large paw. "I'm Freya. Freya Crescent. Of Burmecia."

But the seven continents thing disturbed her a little, left her reeling a bit, though she tried not to show it.

"Which is on the Mist Continent," she added, hoping it would ring a bell, because how could anyone not have heard of the Mist Continent!
