Anakin was nowhere to be seen when Ethics class began, but there was an enormous bowl of (real, this time) Halloween candy on his desk.

There was a sign next to it that said, "TAKE ONLY THREE."

Inside the bowl were full-sized candy bars, as well as smaller "fun-sized" ones, Reese's Cups, Starbursts, those weird Bit o' Honeys, and even apples and boxes of raisins.

Was there a trick here today too?

Oh, probably. Pick your treats anyway.

Do you take the first three you reach in and touch? Do you take the three biggest? All of the Reese's Cups (you monster?!) Do you just take as many as you think you can get away with?

Eleanor just grabbed a handful and sat down and started to eat the candy. Any bit of honey got chucked back at the bowl.

All in all she got about five pieces of random candy.

Sabine took three pieces of the fun sized candies. And she wasn't eating any of it.

She trusted none of it. Noooone.

Tisarwat's first impulse was to go for the one that she could easily recognize as actual food, the apples, but here there was a bunch of food in a bowl that everyone's ungloved hands were going ot be going into, and the fruit was the one thing that wasn't wrapped up again such vile impllications. And all of it was incredibly foreign to her, so she didn't really know what was even the better ones to go for.

So she figured she'd try for a variety: one of the bigger ones, one of the smaller ones, and one in a tube that looked like some sort of pills. That seemed like it would serve well as her three choices.

Elisabeth took three of the raisins. Those were things she recognized and were sweet enough that she considered them a treat.

...She needed more exposure to modern candy, clearly.

Okuyasu fished through and grabbed three full size bars. Hey, he was following the letter of what was instructed.

Nina took a box of raisins, an apple, and a full-sized candy bar, feeling like that made the most balanced sort of three that she could accomplish.

She wasn't against sugar, after all, just sugar for breakfast.

Grog watched the others and tried to figure out what the sign said based on what they were doing, and in the end, he decided to just copy Nina and grab the same three items she had. One thing of each size seemed like the right move.

Keyleth did take exactly three, yes: one box of raisins, a red Starburst, and an apple.

Illyana grabbed two apples and a full-size Reese's. She wasn't going to eat any of it, though, until she got back to her room, because it was probably some kind of trick.

Lana had no idea what most of these were, so she took one large one at random (a Kit Kat), then two of the medium-sized ones (a Reese's cup and a mini Mounds), and sat back down.

Nell looked at it curiously, but didn't take any. She was still a bit leery in these classes.

She took three of the Reese's Cups and left them on her desk in case anyone wanted more.

Anakin came through the door just as everyone had finished making their choices.

Almost like he'd been watching them. Weird.

"Right," he said. "Explain what you took or didn't take from the bowl."

"I just grabbed a bunch of shirt," Eleanor said with a shrug and chucked another Bit o' Honey back at the bowl

That stuff was nasty.

"I really only recognized the fruit," Tisarwat explained with a shrug, because she knew the Dean understood that she wasn't exactly from around here, "but with everyone's hands being in theh bowl," she was also not at all shy about her aversion to bare hands around here, especially not when so many people had been accomodating, "they really lost their appeal. So I figured I'd go for a variety, since that would give me a better range of experiences. I went with a large package of something called a 3 Muskateers," she held up the large candy bar, "then a smaller one called Mr. Goodbar," and that one next, although these names were ridiculous, "and then this, Smarties?"

Which made her wonder if they were some sort of brain-function enhancing mediation, which was intriguing her far more than she thought it should.

Del looked at the three candies she'd taken. "Um. The sign said to? So I took three? Nobody seemed to want these, that other girl was throwing them back at the bowl? I don't know. I've never had these before. Maybe they're good? They might be bad. That's okay. I've eaten bad things before. I don't mind. I don't want them to feel bad. They're candy, they're trying their best."

A small shrug. "I didn't take any of the other stuff because other people seemed to want it more and I don't need it."

Elisabeth nodded at Tisarwat. "I also only recognized the fruit," she said. "But raisins are a rare enough treat that I didn't need anything more."

Raisins. For Halloween. The horror.

Okuyasu had half a Snickers in his mouth. He didn't swallow before talking.

"...it said three," he replied. "This is three."

Well, two and a half, now.

"You can't say I didn't follow the rule!"
