Ethics, Wednesday, September 4, 2019 [1st period]

Anakin swept into the classroom precisely on time, making sure the door slammed shut behind him thanks to a little nudge from the Force.

Hopefully everyone was already awake and not hungover because that noise was loud.

"I am Anakin Skywalker," he said, Jedi robes swirling overdramatically Snape-like around his ankles, "and this is Ethics class." His eyes roamed the room. "It's nice to see some familiar faces because this is a class that is always relevant. Ethics--your personal moral principles--can evolve over time, and something you find unthinkable one year might become routine in another. The point of this class is to examine where your own personal line is before you are faced with a dilemma in the real world, panic, and make a wrong choice."

Like, say, turn to the Dark Side and kill a whole lot of people. For decades. Theoretically.

"Traditionally, the first week of classes is devoted to introductions," Anakin concluded. "So today I want your name and the second worst decision you've made. The one that makes you wince internally when you are trying to go to sleep at night and your brain is playing the greatest hits of the stupd things you've done."

Eleanor would definitely have thought the cloak swirling was totally unnecessary.

However her main complaint at the moment was that Anakin was unnecessarily LOUD. A very soft audible groan escaped her as the door slammed and she now knew why everyone hates moral philosophy teachers.

Having been in pretty much Eleanor's position just a few days ago, Tisarwat would have been remiss if she didn't send a faint, sympathetic sort of smile her way at that groan.

Even if she did feel a little smug about the fact that she'd at least had the foresight to do it on a night when she didn't have a class the next day.

Seeing the sympathetic smile just made Eleanor shrink up into herself just a tad.

And take two more ibuprofen. And water. Lots of water.

Okay, Sabine realized, maybe taking this class had been a bad idea.

Personal morals evolving over time?

Something you find unthinkable becoming routine?

Where your personal lines are before faced with a dilemma?

Well. This class was just about a few weeks too late, now, wasn't it?

But at least she could still be amused at the idea of the Dean who drove the colorful shuttle and smiled at her when talking about picnics coming in here as if a slammed door and a fluttering of robes could be enough to chase that impression away.

Evie smiled, happy to see she had a class with her roommate.

When Tisarwat had noticed that Evie was in this class as well--it was sort of hard not to notice her, really--and when she caught her smile, she smiled back.

It was still an adjustment, going from sharing a sleeping space with the ten other people in her decade, to just one individual--and one fish--but she'd like Evie so far, and it was better than being all by herself--with the fish.

It should be interesting, getting to know her a little better in the framework of this class.

Not saying Keyleth was trying to make note of the cloak swirling techniques or anything, but if she survived her Aramenté and somehow managed to not turn out to be a total failure in the meantime, well, there was a really nice mantle that came with the title of the Voice of the Tempest . . .

Vette? Was totally just grinning through this lecture.

Those were some nifty cloak skills, sure, but she was still too smug about the bus to be properly impressed.

Wooooow. Master Skywalker reminded her of the Director. She was far less flashy, but they both gave off the same sense of command.

Though, his question had her shifting a little in her seat. She could see why Master Hargrove had signed her up for this class.

Delirium was rocking a pirate outfit today and she envied those cloak swishy skills. Maybe she'd start wearing a cloak for this class!

Weren't you lucky, being that kind of role model, Anakin.

She tried to do a swirl with the bottom of her coat but it just didn't have the same sort of drape.

Sulking Delirium at her desk, check.
