Even Anakin wasn't going to invite the entire town to stand outside in radiation and next to a bomb just for a day of competition (though yes, he had considered in for a hot minute). Today's event was being held in the community center and the flickering lights and general malaise just kind of added to what would be the world's weirdest fashion show.
Because, yes, there was a catwalk set up down the center, currently being sat upon by a small herd (committee? Murder?) of gremlins.
"Today we will reprise last year's highly popular gremlin fashion show," Anakin yelled into the completely unnecessary bullhorn.
It was only popular if you'd talked to Sparkle and Brooke, who'd been judges last year, but details. "You will be paired up!" Anakin continued. "You will have a variety of crafting supplies including macrame patterns, felt, rope, yarn, glue, staplers, and stun guns!"
Stun guns were craft supplies if you squinted? Maybe?
"You will have a half hour to create your masterpiece, another fifteen minutes to fit your model into it without getting bitten--" so good luck with that, "and then send him, her, or them down the runway for our guest judges to assess your work!"
He gestured at the chairs next to the runway. "Please welcome--" he frowned as Beaker handed him the list, "--Sparkle, Brooke, Keyleth, and..Camden."
This wasn't exactly what he meant when he'd asked Beaker to round up some catty judges. Oh well!
"Listen for your names!"

Re: Create!!! - Team 10
... Fjord's armor was cobbled together from multiple armor pieces and it was possible that he'd stolen the red rope on them from somebody's curtains or something, so sure, this would go great.
Re: Create!!! - Team 10
"That we do," she agreed. "Plus, we already know we work well together, so already, there's an advantage. And this is the one I was telling you your knot skills would come in handy for. Last year, it was just the macrame; looks like they expanded the options a bit this time around, though."
Re: Create!!! - Team 10
"Yeah, nothin' like a little..." Fjord wrinkled his nose a little, "mauve," his old nemesis, "to really broaden horizons."
Get over it, buddy. You looked great in mauve.
"But knots, I can do," he added, a little more pleasantly. "You have somethin' in mind for this thing already?"
Re: Create!!! - Team 10
"Well," her head tilted thoughtfully, "naturally, my first inclination is something like armor, but that's what I did last year. So I think, maybe, especially after seeing how well those cat clothes turned out, I could take on something a little fancier than all that, if you've got any particular inclination. Gremlin's only a bit bigger than a cat, really...
"Also," she added, since she figured Fjord deserved the update, "those cat clothes did not work at all."
For either of their hopeful purposes.
Re: Create!!! - Team 10
Well, that got a blink and a chuckle out of Fjord, at least.
"And here I didn't get to see her wearing them. I'd say that's a damn shame, but I really am a fan of bein' able to breathe," he mused. "What did you end up puttin' on her? We can do somethin' like it for the gremlin, if you figure it'll be trend-setting."
And possibly also because Fjord just really wanted to be able to picture what it was Amaya had stuffed Seivarden into during her cat period.
Re: Create!!! - Team 10
"...including the gloves?" she ventured.
They were sort of the piece that tied the whole ensemble together, after all.
Re: Create!!! - Team 10
"Especially the gloves," Fjord confirmed.
It was important.
Re: Create!!! - Team 10
Re: Create!!! - Team 10
Someday he would meet Nott, and... would become no more enlightened than before, really.
Re: Create!!! - Team 10
Someday one would hope to englighten her on that, and...no. Just...no.
"I'd like to say it's about the same as takin' the measurements of a naked-ass anything," she reasoned, "but it is a bit more complicated than just that, so I'll handle the measurements. Yesterday with the Crumbler got my fighting spirit all riled up anyway, so if it tries any funny business, I'll just put 'em out right in its naked-ass face."
Or they could use the stun guns provided, but, hey, what fun was that?
"That knot work might take a bit more time than the rest of it, anyway."
Re: Create!!! - Team 10
At Arts and Crafts day.
Re: Create!!! - Team 10
"Yeah, you had a bit of trouble with those, didn't you?" she said. "But you tried your best. Don't take this the wrong way, but I think I might go elsewhere if I've got any water balloons that need handling."
...and boy, was she glad there was established context for that one once it came out of her mouth.
Her attention was going right back to those gremlins, because one shouldn't take their attention from gremlins for too long, anyway. "Alright, then, which one of you if feeling particularly fancy and civilized today, hmm? Lemme size you up a bit so I can know what I'm working with."
Re: Create!!! - Team 10
It was much easier than talking about handling water balloons, okay?
Re: Create!!! - Team 10
And it seemed to have worked, too, as one of the gremlin suddenly seemed very into whatever it was Fjord and Amaya were going to do, giving a grin that...may have given Amaya pause for a moment, that slight feeling of regret and also definitely leaning toward giving her attention to detail especially in her own workmanship no matter what it was for a pass.
"Oh, okay," she said, holding out her hands almost as if to stop the little guy as he started hurrying forward, maybe taking a few tentative steps back, "no rush, take your time, that's probably close enough, actually, you're just a little guy, I think I can work with cat measurements fine enou--!"
And that's when the all-too-eager gremlin took its chance, leaping forward, and that's when Amaya probably did the worst thing she could have done, which was meet that leap with a punch, which knocked that gremlin to the ground just fine, but just opened her up for another going in while she was distracted for that nice little bit of her leg between where her skirt started and her boots ended.
WHich gave her just enough time to hiss out an "Ah, zards!" before the teeth really sunk in and Amaya gave it a swift boot while she was, briefly, not for much longer, somewhat still Amaya .
Re: Create!!! - Team 10
It was followed by a moment's hesitation, and then he was tentatively making his way over to make certain everything was okay over there.
"I, ah, I'm afraid to ask why we're havin' a 'zards' situation here, Amaya."
Re: Create!!! - Team 10
"It seems as if maybe something...got me," she said, voice still with her usual huskiness, but it was...breathier, lighter, smoother. "But it seems to be getting..." There was a lingering, suggestive pause, "...much better now."
Better enough to saunter forward, anyway, to try to get....irresistably closer.
Re: Create!!! - Team 10
...
"Ah," he replied, and apparently it was possible for a grown man's voice to crack on a single syllable. He cleared his throat and tried again. "Well, that's, uh."
He... wasn't sure just what it was. It was probably not conducive to playing gremlin dressup, though.
"That's a relief," he offered, hoping that he'd picked the right noun, there.
Re: Create!!! - Team 10
She couldn't help it, really. She was just drawn that way...
"And who might you be," she asked, looking up, which was a little new for her, she (thought she) was usually taller than most people, her eyes wide and soulful and full of all sorts of completely unintential intention, "big fella?"
Re: Create!!! - Team 10
"The name's, ah, Fjord, ma'am," he said, maybe just that tiny bit wide-eyed, right there. "Pleasure."
For the record, that was simply a polite affectation, and not a request.
Re: Create!!! - Team 10
And she let that, much like everything else about her, linger for a luxuriant moment before asking, "I don't suppose you could help a poor girl like me find her way around a place like this, could you, Mr. Fjord? I'm looking for a dick.
"A private dick," she added, after just long enough of a breathy pause, and she pulled herself away dramatically, hands almost protectively at her ample bosom. "My dear husband's gone missing, and I'm afraid only a detective will be able to help me find him."
Re: Create!!! - Team 10
Fjord's mouth opened.
And shut.
And then opened again.
And shut... again.
And then he cleared his throat.
"As, ah, fate would have it, the island's got a few of those on it."
Dicks? Detectives? His brain wasn't firing on all cylinders at the moment.
Re: Create!!! - Team 10
Re: Create!!! - Team 10
Fjord was reasonably certain what she needed was to be locked in a closet or something until this was out of her system. As it stood, he was mostly just nodding. A very fervent, maybe slightly panicked nod, eyes darting toward the Community Center door.
...
"Well, if you, ah, want an assist," he hedged, "I can show you the way. You'll wanna stay close. Never know what's lurking streets like those on days like this."
Especially on days like this.
Sorry, Amaya. He understood that winning these things was a goal of yours, buuuuuut you kept touching his chest and it was making his whole entire brain turn inside-out.
Re: Create!!! - Team 10
She did not seem to be in any particular hurry to separate, though, lingering the way she did before finally twisting away, making the most out of all the arching and curving her body was capable of as she moved, including a wave of hair that seemed directly intended for his face.
And there was absolutely not an ounce of hurry in the slow, hip-swaying steps she started taking toward the door once she had moved away from Fjord, or in the pause she took to look over her shoulder becomingly to ensure that he was following. "You are coming...aren't you?"
Re: Create!!! - Team 10
"Not terribly likely," Fjord mumbled under his breath. A little more loudly, he added, "Right behind you, Ma'am."
Which, uh, wouldn't be conducive to getting her to the proper place at all.
"... Beside you," he amended. "Right beside you."
