Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II
The lawn was arranged with tables and chairs - some near the food, some not - and there was plenty of food to go around. The school had even wised up and put to-go boxes by the plates, so people didn't have to put food in their pockets to take it with them for later. No one was gonna judge you for making some pocket bacon, but at least now it wasn't a necessity.
[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Re: General Mingling [Spring 2019]
She was alternating between casting thoughtful, skeptical glances up at the castle and kind of glowering as she looked around and assessed the students, but the whole time she was, yes, absolutely shoving bacon into her pockets while she ate. WHAT.
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2019]
Wait, back to concerned.
Full circle.
"Heeeeeey, buddy. You okaaaaay?" He drew both those words with wavery concern. So much concern.
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2019]
“‘m fine, dude, chill,” she said, which to be fair she would have said if she had two broken limbs and half her blood missing. “What, do I not look like it?”
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2019]
"Well, you put bacon in your pockets. Do you need money? I'm pretty sure I have some saved up from the last guy I looted."
He didn't understand that teaching earned him a paycheck.
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2019]
because she was basically battle Mercy, and Caduceus was going to be way more effective at healing people after they got knocked out. You know, when he wasn’t almost getting killed himself because the universe seemed like it was out to do that.. . . she did have a healer’s kit on her, though, along with like a thousand ball bearings. And now pocket bacon!
“I’m good, dude,” Beau insisted, still giving him that weird amused look. “It’s just, it’s bacon, right?”
What else were you supposed to do when you got access to bacon but hoard it?
“Nice sweater, though, man, I like it.” Sleeves were bullshit, okay? It was supposed to be a compliment! Even if she sounded more sarcastic than genuine.
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2019]
He still offered up a cheerful fistbump for it because he was used to Taako who alternated between cutting sarcasm and cloud cuckoo lander stupid when it suited him. "Do you have a magical pocket for it? Because lint on bacon sounds bad."
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2019]
“Nah, dude, it’s fine. It’s like really high quality material, you know?” Fancy-ass silk monk clothing and all. At least she didn’t have a tiny owl that she kept forgetting about also in that pocket. “I just like to have some extra protein on hand. Like I need the energy, you know?”
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2019]
"Like a video game," he said as though it was dawning on him. "I keep GORP for that reason. It's nutritious and keeps forever."
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2019]
“That doesn’t sound really appetizing, though. I mean . . .”
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2019]
"What? GORP? It's granola... um... oats! Oats, yeah. Raisins and peanuts. Though Lucretia uses pistachos and that shit's amazing."
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2019]
“Oh, okay, see, that sounds better. Why can’t you just —“ Beau cut herself off and shook her head. “Right, that’s a mouthful. Abbreviations are unfortunate sometimes, man.”
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2019]
"Yeah," he agreed, already digging for his bag of GORP to offer her some. Despite the pile of food right next to them.
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2019]
“Do you get that a lot? Offering that stuff to people —“ she was already making grabby hands at it, again despite the pile of food — “and having them go ‘dude, no, what the fuck is that?’”
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2019]
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2019]
"Oh." Beau shrugged. "Like a regional thing. Yeah, that's fair. Also better than dried rations, probably."
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2019]
Or remember they exist.
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2019]
"I know, I know," Beau added while chewing, because manners were for other people, "that's like, a super low bar but still."
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2019]
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2019]
"I mean . . ." Beau made a face. "I don't wanna say I'm never going to touch that stuff, but I never want to, you know?"
Not that the multiverse cared what she wanted.
"So you teaching this term too?"
Wait.
"Like Fjord, I mean. Not me."
NOBODY NEEDED THAT.
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2019]
"Yep! Problem solving. With your fists."
Yeah, she could totally teach that class.
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2019]
She would have been all over that class.
“I mean, please, that’s the best kind of problem solving, am I right?”
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2019]
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2019]
And she was going to leave with so much bacon, too.
“I might do that, though. It’s something to do.” That involved punching things, which was always a draw.
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2019]
Cara had the terrifyingly competent stuff covered for the both of them.
Re: General Mingling [Spring 2019]
She totally wanted to show off a little bit, though.
“I’ll think about it.”
