The tables and chairs had been scattered around the lawn - some near the food, some not, some in the shade, some not - and the food was ready for anyone who wanted to come by and greet the new people.

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

She didn't think she even wanted one, to be honest. They barely looked like food.

The way Octavia's lips thinned into an unimpressed line seemed to suggest that she was assuming it might have been on purpose.

She held the box out for him. "Thanks, but no."

Octavia squinted at him, then down at his plate. "Are they serving jobi nuts? Is that what this is?"

'Insincere' was a really odd thing from him, okay? Even without the context she'd heard it in, just now.

"I guess," Octavia said. Sometimes it seemed like it had been easier to learn to speak Grounder than it was to learn the slang here. "It's not a great experience."
