Today's shenanigans had been redirected into the community center--there were signs in the park to herd everyone into the correct place, and the food vendors had set up their rickshaws out front in anticipation.

"Today," Anakin began once everyone had taken seats, "we will take a break from physical acuman and see how good you are at following directions. Since I've taught most of you, I'm betting on...less well." He gestured at the tables, baking ingredients, and ovens that had been set up. "Today you will be working in pairs to complete two cooking goals. We have guest judges to grade your attempts: Dr. Lecter, who teaches culinary courses, and Mr. Eliot Spencer, who runs the diner. Listen for you names, please:

Ahsoka and Cristina; Aphra and Kanan; Amaya and Aloy; Zack and Hernando; Tip and Reno; Theron and Uma; Karla and Beaker; Jaina and Sidon; Astrid and Jono; and Mitsutada and Kitty."

"Those who come in second place will receive the glory of the singing fish," Anakin said, calling the terrifying beastie back to his hand with an indolent wave. "The rest of you get...sleep without nightmares, I guess."

Karla snapped a pair of fingerguns at him. "Amazing!" she declared. "Sugar cookies are pretty boring, so some chocolate will make them snappy. And we'll get the judges attention!"

...You already had it, Karla. It was called 'horrified fascination.'

"Just dump it right in," she said, pointing to the bowl, because baking ratios were for losers.

Mmmm, unsweetened cocoa mix!

Beaker held his thumb up, artiste-style, as he tried to get the correct feel for Anakin's ensemble.

Then dumped half the cocoa powder in.

...that'll be yummy.

This whole teamup had clearly been the island's effort to get an amazing taste sensation. They were doing this for you, Fandom.

"Time to mix this!" she declared, turning the electric mixer on high before putting into the bowl.

And now everyone around them was trying to aspirate cocoa mix and flour.

Beaker wasn't even surprised to be completely covered in flour and cocoa because that's how life happened to him.

And eggs, butter, and sugar as well!

It was like his whole life was preparing him for this teamup.

"I skipped adding the vanilla," Karla told him. "Since we're going for chocolate."

"Meep meep meep," Beaker agreed, holding up some chili powder. Chili and chocolate were a good combo, right? He'd seen that on a cooking show!

In Karla's kitchen, all ideas were good ideas. "Yeah!" she said, nodding. "Just throw it in while I'm blending."

Children, had you not learned from literally minutes ago?

Clearly not because there was now a puff of chili powder and a hacking Beaker.

Karla was also coughing and sneezing, letting the mixer go and go and go as she backed off until she finished sneezing. And coughing. And washed her hands.

Oh yeah, that batter was well mixed. Nothing was going to break those cookies apart. Certainly nothing as minor as teeth.

"Okay," she rasped, "now what?"

Beaker started rummaging for a cookie cutter than looked vaguely Anakin-like...and emerged with one shaped like Santa.

Close enough?

Kathy frowned at it, then shrugged. "We can make it work," she said. "Maybe the beard can be more hair or something."

Great, now Anakin was going to be offended on top of the judges not surviving.

"Meep meep meep meep," Beaker agreed, taking lumps of the dough and kind of packing it into the cutter.

...as you do?

"No, no, you use this," Karla said, holding up the rolling pin.

And then using the end to mash down the dough Beaker had already added, letting him add more. "Gotta get rid of all the air in there," she explained. "Then we roll this over the top and bottom so they're smooth, see?"

Beaker meeped, impressed.

Somewhere the Swedish Chef was taking notes...

Well that was a horrifying thought and Karla owed weregild to the memory of Jim Henson.

"Okay, now take the cookie cutter off," she instructed. "And we should have the perfect Ana-cookie to bake!"

"Meep meep meee!" Beaker said, pulling the cookie cutter off with a flourish.
