Summer Shenanigans, Wednesday, July 18, 2018
Today's shenanigans had been redirected into the community center--there were signs in the park to herd everyone into the correct place, and the food vendors had set up their rickshaws out front in anticipation.
"Today," Anakin began once everyone had taken seats, "we will take a break from physical acuman and see how good you are at following directions. Since I've taught most of you, I'm betting on...less well." He gestured at the tables, baking ingredients, and ovens that had been set up. "Today you will be working in pairs to complete two cooking goals. We have guest judges to grade your attempts: Dr. Lecter, who teaches culinary courses, and Mr. Eliot Spencer, who runs the diner. Listen for you names, please:
Ahsoka and Cristina; Aphra and Kanan; Amaya and Aloy; Zack and Hernando; Tip and Reno; Theron and Uma; Karla and Beaker; Jaina and Sidon; Astrid and Jono; and Mitsutada and Kitty."
"Those who come in second place will receive the glory of the singing fish," Anakin said, calling the terrifying beastie back to his hand with an indolent wave. "The rest of you get...sleep without nightmares, I guess."

Re: TASK NUMBER 1: BAKING
"I can follow directions if I got the right incentive," Reno mused, considering Tip, and then considering the fish, and then shrugging his shoulders easily. "That's incentive enough, yo. We'll make a damn good cookie."
So it had been decided.
Re: TASK NUMBER 1: BAKING
Tip snorted. "You planning to make blowing up the fish a new class assignment?" she guessed.
She was already planning out the teacher portrait for the cookie art, yes.
Re: TASK NUMBER 1: BAKING
"Nah, that wasn't the plan, but it is now," Reno decided. "I just gotta tell Iris."
There would be something involving the fish, anyway. He just hadn't decided what.
Re: TASK NUMBER 1: BAKING
"You want to cover the baking, and I'll do the decoration?" Tip suggested.
Re: TASK NUMBER 1: BAKING
"Works for me," Reno decided. "I put the ingredients together, you plot out the art, we meet in the middle to make this happen?"
He really could follow instructions, was the thing. What kind of Turk would he be otherwise?
Re: TASK NUMBER 1: BAKING
"I think we have a plan." Tip grinned. "You're cool if this mocks one of your fellow teachers, right?"
Re: TASK NUMBER 1: BAKING
Reno gave an easy grin.
"Even better," he decided. "If they can't laugh at themselves, they have it comin' to 'em anyway, yo."
Re: TASK NUMBER 1: BAKING
"I knew you'd get it." Tip pulled out her notebook and a pencil to start sketching. "This'll be fun."
Re: TASK NUMBER 1: BAKING
Reno grinned as he sped around, collecting ingredients and familiarizing himself with the recipe.
"Lookin' forward to seein' what you come up with, Rookie."
Rookie was a good thing, Tip. Just roll with it.
Re: TASK NUMBER 1: BAKING
Tip raised her eyebrow at that, but didn't object. Nicknames were weird, after all. One of her favorite people had spent his last months calling her "Stupidlegs", she could deal with "Rookie".
"Just make sure you give me a good canvas to work on, Cap."
Re: TASK NUMBER 1: BAKING
"Cap's the guy with the shield," Reno pointed out easily. "But I'll deliver, don't worry."
He would, too. It was The Job.
Re: TASK NUMBER 1: BAKING
"Yeah, but I've already got a sensei. And 'Teach' doesn't have the same ring."
Re: TASK NUMBER 1: BAKING
"Yeah, 'Teach' ain't my style either, yo," Reno allowed. "Hey, so long as Rogers don't get confused, you go on and call me whatever makes your heart happy, Rookie. I'll get used to it."
