Summer Games [Wednesday]

A fully grown Anakin Skywalker was back in his normal spot in the park, megaphone in hand. In addition to the normal bleachers, the park had a number of tables set out with an inordinate amount of craft sticks and hot glue guns.

More worryingly, there was a giant bullseye spray-painted onto the grass.

"Welcome back!" Anakin said, absolutely blustering past the part where last week he'd been 17 years old with a deeply regrettable haircut. "Today you will be building catapults out of craft sticks and glue! It must be capable of propelling a meter tall object towards that bullseye--" he pointed to the grass helpfully. "Whichever team comes closest to hitting the buillseye gets to keep the fish for the week. Do not tank on purpose just because you don't want the fish!"

He glared at everyone to make his displeasure known about that. "You have an hour and a half to work on and complete your design! Please listen for your name to know which group you belong to! Group One: Peter, Norman, Kitty, and Paris. Group Two: Hannibal, Liam, Astrid, and Kanan. Group Three: Sabine, Rosa, Jono, and Tip. Group Four: Zack, Ahsoka, Cristina, and Verity. Group Five: Steve, Bobby, Cara, and Miguel. Group Six: Sidon, Hera, Rey, Amaya, and Uma."

[OOC: EDITED TO ADD: There are also rubber bands, rope, buckets, cloth, macrame gremlin ensembles, and other moddable stuff hiding under the tables. I totally remembered. Really. Cough.]

Glue and popsicle sticks? Norman looked a little bit dubiously at the supplies set out before them, not entirely certain that this wasn't going to end horribly no matter what they tried.

But, hey, at least nobody was going to get gremlin bit?

"Honestly, I'd be more concerned about what the object weighs than how tall it is," he offered, wanting to at least attempt to be helpful.

Sorry, guys. Kanan was just looking at the assignment set out for them today and trying not to laugh outright.

"At least it isn't macramé."

He didn't particularly want to end up tied to any of his teammates today.

//Ah, yes, forgot what preschool was like, was definitely hoping for the reminder today.//

Jono picked up a popsicle stick and looked at it dubiously through his flames.

//At least we aren't gluing pasta to it, too.//

"Okay, let's do this!" Zack had no idea where to begin, but never let it be said that he wasn't enthusiastic about group projects! "Who knows how to make a catapult?"

Because that was such a common life skill.

"Meep meep meep MEEP!" Beaker said, saluting each team.

"Sure," Steve said, holding up the popsicle sticks and looking dubious. "This seems doable."

Paris nodded. "Well, three feet--that's not a gremlin," she said, looking around for what could be about three feet tall. "It's not a cannonball either. Maybe assume 'big rock' and just hope for the best from there? Reinforce those joints, use lots of sticks glued together."

"I suppose if there's anywhere at all where extra sticks and glue will make up the difference enough to support a big rock..."

Norman couldn't even lift a rock that big to get it into a catapult. Maybe with a group effort?

"Then again, maybe the closest anyone will be able to get to firing something at the target will be to be able to put the thing into the basket without the whole project falling apart."

"Alright!" said Amaya, who couldn't help grinning broadly when she heard the names on her team. "We should have this one in the bag!"

She'd been building catapults since she was five! Never out of hot glue and popsicle sticks, but how much more challenging could it be?

Paris nodded again. "I don't think he's trying to set us a completely impossible task," she agreed. "So it's probably lighter than a boulder. But if we think boulder, we'll be able to shoot anything!"

Rosa had no idea what she was doing back here again. Why did she keep coming back? It was almost as if part of her might actually be enjoying these things, but no, that was stupid and wrong. But there she was anyway, arms folded, brow furrowed. If anything, she supposed she was just keeping an eye on things because it was kind of her job. That's what it was. Just doing her job.

Rosa was just going to look for a moment at the person with flames in their face thinking of handling wooden sticks and melty glue, Because that seemed like a great idea.

She then looked to the kids.

"This is all part of your weird summer camp," she noted. "I'm pretty sure we're," she wiggled a thumb between her and Jono, "are just here to supervise, make sure you don't eat the glue or whatever. So...good luck. Have fun. Don't get any splinters."

Rosa, you literally won a few weeks ago in a group of all adults. You know that's not how this works.

Meanwhile, it was a good thing that Astrid didn't grow up on a lot of television, or else she'd be too busy composing a theme to My Three Summer Camp Dads. Because the irony of a fatherless fourteen year old being teamed up with three adult males was not lost on her, though perhaps maybe it should have been.

"At least I kind of knew where to begin with the macramé," she admitted dolefully.

"Yes!" Sidon exclaimed, upping Amaya's excitement significantly with double fist pumps. "A glorious team! A wonderful team! We will emerge victorious in our task to build a catapult!"

But he wilted, just slightly, shoulders sloping down.

"Er...what's a catapult?"

There was no evidence of them existing in Hyrule, OKAY??
